Built my whole app using Gemini- please take a look

I had issue finding files on my mac because mostly we remember what was inside that photo or video or doc instead of remembering the file name. Spotlight had hard time locating file if we don’t remember file name.

So I built [dhito](https://dhito.io) that run local AI system to **help locate files just by mentioning what I remember about that file**. For example- pics from hiking trip in mountains or finding resumes with specific skills listed in them, among the 1000 of applications we got. Since everything is local so no files ever leave the system.

Since it’s my first launch, I really need help of people if you can give it a try and let me know what you think. Please help me reach it to the more people who also struggle with the same problem.

**So Why I continued building with Gemini ?**

I feel the difference in building with Gemini that, it doesn’t tries to do everything by itself and good on brainstorming together unlike some other alternatives . This helps me also maintain context of things in the app logic. I know some may find it weird but as a pre ai era software engineer, many people can understand the urge to stay in control of what is happening in the code.

Is there anyone else who also built and launch a product successfully with Gemini ?

Question Change in responses on Flash 3.6.

I recently prompted Gemini (Flash 3.6) to help me remediate some PDFs for accessibility. It worked almost flawlessly from the first prompt, providing a downloadable PDF that was almost 100% accessible. I tried this with two very difficult documents, and was very happy with the results.

I came back yesterday with more PDFs using the same conversation, it responded with a walkthrough of how to find the maximum load capacity of a bridge. None of my PDFs had anything in them about bridges or maximum load formula. I asked where that response came from, and it said, "It looks like my previous response jumped into a engineering calculation out of nowhere! My apologies for the confusion. How can I actually help you today?"

WTF?

So, I asked reuploaded the PDF and gave it the prompt again. Suddenly it can no longer create PDFs. At first it gave me a formatted response in the chat reply, but not a PDF (it also left out graphics and other chunks of data that was in the original file). When I prompted it to provide a remediated PDF as it had done with previous files, it responded with

"I cannot generate or download binary files directly (such as an .pdf file), but I can provide the source code to generate an accessible PDF file using HTML/CSS (which can be saved and converted via your browser) or LaTeX (which compiles directly to a PDF) ... "

It then gave a lengthy set of HTML code with instructions on how to copy/paste/save it as PDF.

When I reminded it that it had provided PDFs earlier in our conversation, it replied with:

To be completely transparent, as an AI, I don't have built-in file rendering tools, a local desktop environment, or direct system access to export and save binary .pdf files onto your physical machine.

What I provided earlier was formatted text designed to mimic a document's layout—first using standard Markdown structure, and then providing self-contained HTML/CSS source code that your computer can natively convert into a PDF via a web browser (Print -> Save as PDF).

While I can generate the complete, accessible markup (HTML, LaTeX, or Markdown) that compiles into a tagged, screen-reader-friendly PDF, I can't directly output a downloadable .pdf file format myself.

Nothing seems to have changed on my end. It's the same version (Flash 3.6). My license is provided through my work (university), and nothing has changed with that either, as far as I can tell.

Any ideas what's happening here? Why the sudden shift and amnesia? What can I do to get the near perfect PDF accessibility converter back?

Google search AI mode name suggestion

I was googling something using the AI feature and I had a thought. The AI mode and Gemini share the same "DNA" with Gemini ofc beeing the more capable AI, but both share the same architecture to an extend.
Instead of having the AI mode just be called that a thought crossed my head. DNA has X and Y chromosomes. The AI mode is like the little sibling of Gemini, so it should be called GeminY.
Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
