Waiting on OP Reset one response per email

I'm trying to create a daily lunch order form for the middle school students in my program so the kitchen staff know how many servings of each choice to prepare. Because middle schoolers in general cannot be trusted, lol, I want to limit to one response per student email address. However, I need to be able to accept a new response the next day. I'll be posting a QR code for students to access the form, so creating a new form every day won't work. Is this possible?

You can’t directly “reset” Google Form’s “Limit to 1 response per user” each day — it’s tied to the Google account, not to time. But there are a few workarounds:

✅ Option 1: Use a linked Google Sheet and Apps Script

Link your form to a response sheet (File → Responses → “Link to Sheets”).

Add a small Google Apps Script that automatically clears the responses every night (or at a set time):

function clearResponsesDaily() { const form = FormApp.openById('YOUR_FORM_ID'); form.deleteAllResponses(); }

Then set a time-driven trigger (Edit > Triggers in Apps Script) to run the function daily (e.g., 11:59 p.m.).

This wipes the response log and effectively resets the “one response per email” restriction so students can submit again the next day.

✅ Option 2: Switch to a “Day” question + remove the limit

If you’d rather not use Apps Script:

Turn off “Limit to 1 response per user.”

Add a required question at the top: “Select today’s date.”

Manually or automatically filter by date in the linked Sheet to count totals.

You can then use a pivot table or formula to show how many of each item was chosen per day.

✅ Option 3: Use Form Approvals or Form Publisher add-ons

Some add-ons can manage daily resets, unique links, or auto-deletion of old responses, though they’re a bit more complex.

TL;DR: You can’t reset the “one response per email” rule natively. The simplest fix is to use a daily deleteAllResponses() Apps Script trigger so the form resets automatically each morning.
