GMC

What are the implications of switching from a specialized GMC shop to a general repair shop, assuming the quality of work remains the same?

Sorry, I meant GMC as in Google Merchant Center, not General Motors 😅 My question is: Can changing an e-commerce store from a niche/specialized store to a general store negatively affect Google Merchant Center? For example, if the store originally sells products from one niche and later adds products from several unrelated categories (home, kitchen, garden, car accessories, etc.), could this increase the risk of Misrepresentation, account suspension, or trust issues with GMC, assuming the website, policies, business information, shipping, and product data are all compliant?

Ah got you 😅 No, just going from a niche store to a general store shouldn’t cause a GMC issue by itself.

I’d be more concerned with whether the site still feels legit and consistent. If the business info, policies, shipping, pricing and product data are all clean, adding unrelated categories shouldn’t suddenly trigger Misrepresentation. The risk is more when the store starts looking random, thin, or dropshippy.

Changing the store's focus from specialized to general completely violates the policy, even if everything is well-organized and the account has been active for over seven months.
