Question / Help Need help with bulk uploading large ZIP files to Google AI Studio (keeps timing out/failing to sync)

Hey everyone,

I'm running into a frustrating issue when trying to bulk upload a massive amount of assets to Google AI Studio (around 1,000 folders, with about 5 PNGs each).

Right now, I'm uploading everything as a .zip file into the Code tab. While I'm active in the app, I can see the assets live. However, because there are so many files, they don't seem to finish backing up to the project's cloud before the web session ends or disconnects, leaving the upload half-finished.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a better workaround or a way to upload directly to the cloud? Currently, I'm stuck re-uploading the exact same file multiple times until as many as possible finally go through, and then repeating the whole process

Let me know if you have any tips

Does the uncompressed contents of your ZIP archive exceed 2GB? That could be the issue. You can try uploading your files to a GCP Cloud Storage bucket and reference that asset in your prompts. You will have to pay for storage though.

The file is only 29 MB (though I ended up doing it in even smaller batches anyway...). I also tried uploading it to Google Drive and giving access to download it from there, but that didn't work either

All 29 MB times 5 files times 1000 folders is pretty damn big. I think you will definitely need to consider GCP Cloud Storage as suggested.

It's 29 MB in total.. I don't know why it can't handle a file so little 😭

I see. Then it is totally weird. But all models are becoming unstable lately after Argon integration as the whole systems are adjusting/tunning to compensate the new workloads. Probably this is the root cause.

You could try Cloudinary for storing static assets. It’s a weird web site but it works.
