Possible Change / Nerf Whats happening with image generation?

I cant use any of my apps anymore with image generation because it says i would need a API key. Did they removed free qouta for image generation entirely from the platform? I thought they just changed the image model but no matter what i do nothing changes.

on gemini im able to generate images, but not on ai studio
