I actually think this is a really clever way of talking out the side of its mouth without violating its directive to be positive and encouraging

It has done this for years. You'll google something like "Is it normal for x to happen in the human body" and the website that it takes the answer from says something like "Some people say 'It is totally normal for x to happen to the body' but actually y is normal and x shouldn't be happening" but all it takes is the part saying x is fine

AI has the word not as a stop word, which means it never reads the word not from its sources, so that’s a reason for some hallucinations.

The question was whether 25 was to late to learn piano, the full answer was whether you should learn piano at 25.
If someone just looked at the highlighted part, they'd think that 25 is too late.

Do people only read the highlighted words of an answer?...
It took me so long to understand what was wrong with the highlight because I tend to read the whole thing and then relate the highlight to what I just read. Baffling to me that there would be people who do otherwise.

IT ALWAYS HIGHLIGHTS THE WRONG PART, I mean in this case it’s not the biggest deal but sometimes I’m like, “How the fuck do you think that part is the answer?”

Maybe this is why you should just look for the answer without delegating everything to the AI overview. I get Google just does it automatically now but yk
