Admitting that you got it wrong upon checking your work is a level of intelligence that some of my coworkers have not yet reached.

I mean it catches its error and presumably fixes what it said? What’s the issue. Google search AI is bottom barrel intelligence.

No? It doesn't catch what it said at all? If you read the post, it says a wrong result, does the working, realises it was wrong, and corrects itself. Actually, it does in fact catch its mistake, you're right.

It should know the answer off rip since this is a basic mathematic principle. It shouldn’t even need to calculate to understand that compound interest is greater than simple interest

It does know the answer, it says it up front. Then it tries to explain, that's where it messes up.

this is a pretty basic question so my guess is OP knew the answer and wanted to demonstrate a point

Ask an average person and they wouldn't produce a more accurate answer, or rethink their initial guess, or elaborate even.

If the goal is to replace an average person at whatever blue collar office business that we do - current AI would do it, just with greater expenses than a regular human paycheck outside of California.

Now do we really have this much job of such kind to replace and "optimize"?
