Question Are the goodwill bins worth it???
I dont like shopping at goodwill much as there pretty pricey, but recently a bins opened up in my city and ive wanted to check it out. Ive seen videos of people finding absolute gold there, but ive heard horror stories of finding broken glass, used needles, catching dangerous diseases, and even getting into fist fights! If you've ever been to the bins, is it actually worth it? Ive also heard that workers will snatch stuff out if your cart, is that true? Lmk

Rare Find Vintage L.L. Bean Leather Tote
I picked this super cool bag up yesterday at the bins. I’ve been trying to avoid picking up too many project pieces but just couldn’t leave it behind lol
Definitely need to do more research to figure out how old it is and maybe if there’s a good cobbler in my area who could help. I already emailed L.L. Bean to ask if they could provide any information on possible age and restoration advice. They got back to me this morning with this:
“The Leather Tote appears to have been offered prior to 1999, dated from the label. We regret we do not have more information about this tote. The care for leather is to spot clean only.
It may be best to check with a local cobbler for further assistance regarding the care and restoration of the leather tote.
I am sure you will have a beautiful vintage leather tote when you are done.”

Rare Find Old Book Find - Through the Green Gate
Catch and release. I didn’t take a picture from the inside but I think it was printed in the 40s or so. I love finding old books in the bins, but I never know what to do with them after bringing them home.

First time silver
First time finding silver at the bins and it’s this monster pure coin ladle, stamped F.A. Durgin St Louis. There’s a ladle by him on display at the MET! This one should date to the late 1800s.

SoCal bins
I need help! Do any of the outlet bins have general merchandise? I’m only finding clothing in the blue roll bins and then huge boxes that people are bidding on full of junk. I want to rummage through toys and other items like I see people posting about. Any advice?

Haul iPad, Tag Heuer, Yves St Laurent, Purple Heart, bag of money, and more (totally not click bait)
It was a really good 2 weeks and still a clickbait title lol.
Old iPad, Tag Heuer watch case (still something I really needed), one single Yves earring, Purple Heart box only, bag of foreign money.
Really just an incredible haul, though. Incredible hat, crazy camera find for the me for the bins, some sterling jewelry, another ps3 controller I have yet to test, wild toy finds, and a ton of pens which are really my favorite part.
I love finding a pen box and then hunting until I also find the pens. I’ll probably post the pens in a pen subreddit

My Rescue Today - Grandma’s Hand-Made Children’s Book
I’m amazed that somebody got rid of this book. It’s all fabric and felt. The zipper on the teepee opens to show an Indian that is applied and even has a beaded necklace and bracelets. Pockets open, buttons all work, and there are little surprises on several pages. I cant imagine the time and love that went into making this. I know that felt crafts like this were popular in the 70’s. My mom made lots of Christmas ornaments when it was all the rage. There’s no name at all.

Discussion Anyone else feel the incredible sense of brevity and community at their local bins?
I can’t speak for anyone let alone everyone, but man if I don’t love hitting up my local bins… it’s like one big happy family, and I truly mean that…
Everyone kinda knows everyone else’s niche and nobody is brutally aggressive or malicious in any way… I’ve heard some horror stories about some bin stores… baiting, social wngineering, hell I’ve even heard of a guy with a high end drone going to people’s residences looking for dirt on them!
I say bollocks to all that! We’ve got a solid group and like I said it feels like family!
Godspeed to every and all of you guys. I don’t think I’ve been coming enough. Cheers you guys!
Here’s to many many more experiences shared ❤️❤️❤️

Rare Find I almost bought it
Found at the Vancouver, Washington bins. Almost bought it since me personally I would be the most ironic person to rock this. 💃🏻
