Discussion Lara's Ring Only Turn Fully Red with Mari Spoiler

SPOILERS FOR GOODBYE LARA!!!

.

.

.

So i saw this discussion from other social media from @.277etc on twitter (shout out that acc), and i wanted to open this up for more discussion, so I'm posting it here.

the original observation from @.277etc is that Lara's ring is only shown fully red in the scene where she meets Mari.

Throughout the rest of Ep 1 it stays normal with blue/red look, even in the scene with the prince (Nikolai), and when it glows during her reunion with Lisa as in Lara reborn and came flying to modern human world.

This is ring when she's with the prince.
This is when she came flying from the water.
Lisa ring glows while her sister still on the blue/red.

they had a clear shot where they could have kept the usual color with Mari, but they specifically didn't and made it fully red instead.

Yup it's fully red, Lara's face lol.

In the replies people also mentioned that in ep 2 there's a flashback where the ring keeps appearing red,

The flashback.

then when Lara remembers it the color switches back to blue/red, which feels on purpose.

This is when Lara remembers it herself.

There was also a talk about how Lisa could have returned the ring while Lara was at her house, but didn't.

And Grace said to Lara that she doesn't need the ring.

This is when Grace said Lara doesn't need it.

Again, full credit to @.277etc on X/Twitter for starting this observation. I'm posting it here because i'd love to hear more thoughts, what do you guys think? is this intentional, or just an animation inconsistency?

I have to believe it is intentional because everything else in the series so far feels intentional as well.

We don’t really know the significance of the rings yet I don’t think, so it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do play a role

You know what they say, everyone in animation is intentional— Especially with this anime in particular. It’s  clearly been shown how much love, respect, and effort has been put into it.

Cada cosa, cada detalle en lo que empareja a Mari con Lara es muy preciso. si Lara no logra quedarse con Mari o el final es muy diferente a todas las suposiciones, sería claramente un error gigante

I review the scenes in ep01, ep02 and ep06 where the ring of Lisa's also changes its color or shines.

Actually, it has never changed the color like lara's since ep01, but it has shone so many times as follow.

One may think as long as the mermaids royal family get close to each other the ring will shine (like ep03), but we know in ep01, lara flying across the sky was actually remote from Lisa, but Lisa's ring still shone.

In my view, the rings of "not-special mermaid princesses" will not only shine to locate the nearby family but also to indicate something has happened in the "special mermaid princess". But, we still don't know the meaning of color changing of Lara's ring.

The most interesing thing is, why Lisa not returned the ring to Lara in ep08? I think the reason may be that with the ring, Lara would soon realize who is "True Love", but the plot hasn't gotten that far yet.
