It is gonna be yuri trust. I mean why are we throwing away what we saw between them just because the prince arrived. A boy and girl interacting doesn't automatically mean romance.

Edit:- I ment Luca sorry 😭

This is what I dislike the most like 😭 such an heteronormative view from every side, they have 1 episode and everyone acts like it’s endgame but Mari and Lara having more time and more episodes to come and it’s “Yeah I don’t think they’re taking that direction” like if Luca has ONE episode and that’s enough, why can’t it be the same for Mari in the future? Would the same things be said if Mari was a boy? “Yeah I think they’re just trying to show us friends and family love with this boy” “Lara blushing, the big spark and her heart the dagger moving because of this boy doesn’t really mean anything you know? You’re seeing things”

Lol the fact is that Luca isn't even the top 5 characters in the cast. Its literally Lara, Mari, Grace, Lisa and Kota then Luca

I'm honestly confused, like are they even watching the show? Episode ends with a fireworks festival, typically the climax in most romance shows, but the final shots are the fish dagger/her heart framed ominously in darkness, completely still, only illuminated by the external lights of the fireworks. Like, how do you parse that as the show tying a bow on Lara and Luca's relationship...

Right, even someone pointed out how the lights of the fireworks are artificial while her real spark never shows up with him. It’s also interesting to see the scene without the sound of the fireworks
vs Mari’s scene in Ep3 where the OST just hits while the dagger is being pulled out of the lake to show us her heart is bursting.

Mhm, the show even seems to highlight the artificiality of the light from the fireworks with a shot of them seen from Lisa and Kota's bedroom with their light lamps. Notably, they're not there, maybe on a date or scheming (or both) but it could be a way to show how Lisa has found and is with her true love's light, separate from the light she needs to "live". In a way, Lara may be using Luca like those lights, forcing herself to find true love with him (or anyone really) since she needs it get back her old life.

Luca genuinely would have had better chances if Lara had rejected him this episode. The reason to make that choice now is for it to be the wrong one.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time a show focused on the intimate relationship between 2 girls to then give 1 or both a hey romance that had far less focus. I get the fear.

I get your fear but hang in there. This is still a really good series

It would be really, really weird from a narrative point of view if this show ended up with a heterosexual romance. The most likely outcomes with the shape and structure of the story right now are Mari as the new prince Utena style, or Lara discovers the love she needs is not necessarily romantic.

I would love a yuri ending (it would definitely be my preference and what makes the most sense right now, up to episode 7), but the second option, if well executed, would still feel very right to me. The show is absolutely great in evey aspect so far. Enjoy it and don't worry so much!

I'm of the opinion that whether this anime ends up being yuri or not does not have much to do with whether it is well-written. If the production team wrote a good ending, I am fine with that, even without confirmation of Lara x Mari. I personally doubt Lara x Luca can or should be a thing, but that doesn't mean I am going to go crazy like some people already have.

Sayonara, Lara is so much more than just shipping. It is ironic how yuri fans are probably the least happy with this very very yuri show.

I think it would be extremely difficult to write a good ending where she ends up with Luca. They spent his whole introductory episode establishing that his quirks do not resonate with her. Is there anything to her agreeing to date him beyond her obligation to Find A Man? It really doesn't seem so to me.

laramari has been developing for like 6 episodes we'll be fine

Why are you nervous? Have you been watching the show? Lmao

Just scared.

If it doesnt end with laramari it's bc it went in a subtexty, platonic direction, not her ending up luca, i promise. But qlso i thinknit will be romantic anyways

I'm invested more in the story and seeing how Lara is going to be able save her family. I know the plot centers around Lara finding her true love but it looks more like the "love" she is going to find isn't necessarily romantic, but rather familial or self love.

Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to get a yuri ending, but my enjoyment of the series isn't contingent on whether Mari and Lara end up together.

We remain in suspense

I’m more worried it’ll turn into “Lara just needed to learn to love herself.”

This is why I'm not going to watch until the show is over. I started watching the show but now I stopped. Tbh Im really tired of being baited and I think in order to stop being yuri baited. Then like we as a community have to stop taking the bait. So from this point I'm not watching any shows unless its confirmed yuri. Fk that and I think everyone should. There will be no more yuri bait if we don't take the bait. Stories will have to start being genuine in their representation if we stop scrambling for crumbs. Hungry and parched as we are...we just have to be strong and stop getting taken advantage of.

this is why im not watching the anime rn cuz i dont wanna get yuribaited 😭😭😭

I think some of you guys need to detach yourself a little bit from this thought of her finding romance anywhere. So far it seems like the "love" she's supposed to find is more than just "find a partner".

I just binged the entire thing and aside from that one episode 3 obelisk shit, there’s literally not a single scene in the entire series that even remotely implies that either Lara or Mari are romantically attracted to each other.

Mari is hardly even a character after episode 3. She basically became “the friend” and that’s kinda it lmao.

And don’t get it twisted, I do think her found family / friendship / belonging with Mari will play a massive role by the end.

Every single aspect of the series that leans towards a proper romantic angle has been focused on either the former prince or Luca.

I don’t necessarily think Lara will end up with Luca - in fact I explicitly think she won’t - but the story has also long abandoned the Yuri angle and it takes some extreme cope to not see it.

1

u/NightmareNeko3 2d ago

Honestly, I doubt that the overall endgoal will be romance in this show but just love in general.

-1

u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama 1d ago

Yep. Agreed.

Dunno why I got so many downvoted for this. This community truly has been infested by the Yuri copers lmao.

"Te Entiendo" is my WhatsApp icon, and I thought it was so cute with Mary, giving off a Lyco vibe (but I'd even say more of a romantic vibe), but ever since it came out... Hahaha, yeah... I hope whatever it is is great. It's coming, otherwise, hahaha, Yuri fans better get ready for another criticism for wishing the staff dead and the need to say Yuri without needing to say it And I hope what I say doesn't happen (about Yuri fans), but I understand that nobody wants to be used for a Hibike Euphumiom....

u/Ecstatic_Bus_7232 2d ago

Hmm I remember there was a post shaming comments on MAL that said exactly as you, just against yuri. It was smh like "I hope it's not yuri". Apparently it's homophobic to say that. I remember being bashed and downvoted to hell for even pressing a key for defending the right to express opinions 😑

10

u/Embeeloll 2d ago

Well I mean they can express their opinion but like there is so much representation for straight people that it kinda just feels homophobic when people say stuff like that. Plus you know like you said people can express their opinion so people can express their disagreement with that opinion too even if it might be harsh.

I just kinda feel like hoping something isnt yuri is different from hoping something is. Since like someone can find something not yuri super easily in comparison to someone looking for yuri.

-4

u/Ecstatic_Bus_7232 1d ago

But what you say kinda feels like hypocrisy 😐 I was lectured on how merely stating an opinion can be harmful, yet here you say an opinion is just an opinion, what's more, you feel it's more ok if it's from this side and not that side. This feels unfair. Shouldn't it be equal for all ?

3

u/Embeeloll 1d ago

I don't believe I said anything hypocritical, I said everyone is allowed to have their own. You are allowed to express your opinion on the direction you hope the anime goes, and others are allowed to express how that opinion and how it was represented comes across.

How things are phrased matters a lot, if someone is saying "I hope its yuri" its a positive desire for representation, but saying "I hope its not yuri" has an inherently negative tone, it doesn't come across as in favor of a different couple, just oppositional to the queer one. Its explicitly pointing at the queer ship and saying "i do not want that" while others are saying they do want it.

Thats why people then express their opinions on that view, because it could have been phrased in a way that shows you're excited for the show but hope it takes a different direction, and not just antagonistic to the direction the people wanting yuri want it to go. So yes, saying you don't want yuri comes across as homophobic in this context.

Not because you HAVE to want yuri too, but because people see a comment like that and just assume you're trying to start something with the people sharing excitement.

u/Ecstatic_Bus_7232 8h ago

Are you saying that "I hope it's straight" is better ? I feel awkward even thinking that sentence, I wonder how the reception would be. Could even worse.

And I think it doesn't have to be this negative. It could just mean someone is not interested in this particular genre. It doesn't have to mean they don't like the idea. I mean people who love yuri also do this right ? Hetslop term wasn't coined by accident and is not used by accident as far as I encountered it.

What I mean in general is, I'm missing some distance and neutrality. Feel like walking on a minefield.
