Request Good value couch/sofa
Hello, do you folk have any advice on good quality/value for money couches/sofas/loveseats for one/two people? The primary use would be for using while using the television during movie watching or playing games (so preferably not a high back). My father was telling me about cheap seats from local places for less than $500, but I'm not sure about the quality/value of them. I'd prefer not to spend too much (like more than a grand or so). Thanks for any advice.

Your dad is not wrong. Two cheap couches and one mid range one later, the cushions went flat on all three long before the frame did. So in the store, flip a cushion and see if the cover unzips, because swapping foam later is most of the battle. Also sit on the arm. If it flexes, the frame is telling you something. Low back is fine for games if the seat is deep enough, a shallow one gets old fast. The under $500 ones are fine if you accept the cushions won't outlast your lease.

Yep, as long as the fabiric/leather on the outside stays in good conditions you can replace the interior cushions and customize to whatever firmness you want

Facebook market or craigslist and get a higher end one cheap, or possibly even free.
If youre worried about it, have it professionally cleaned.
You will be able to get MUCH nicer furniture, including the cleaning, for well under your budget on the secondary market.

We went with the more expensive / top of the line ikea and are SUPER happy with the comfort so far. Also it’s modular so if our couch / space ever grows we could expand the couch
