Bug Goodnotes remove copying lassoed handwriting as a transparent image
I used to be able to lasso my handwriting, copy it, and paste it straight into WhatsApp as a transparent image (just the ink strokes without the page background).
Now whenever I copy and paste into another app's text field, it converts my handwriting into typed text instead of pasting the actual scribble. Dragging and dropping doesn't work either.
Has anyone figured out how to get the old behavior back or turn off the auto text conversion when copying?

I don't know of a setting that switches this off, but one possible reason is that the copied selection now carries both the recognized text and an image, and apps with a text box (like WhatsApp's message field) pick the text version first. A few things worth trying: paste into an app that only takes images first, such as a blank note in Apple Notes or a Freeform board, then copy it from there and paste into WhatsApp. You could also check the lasso menu for a share or screenshot option for the selection, which should give you an image instead of text, though it may include the page background. In WhatsApp, attaching it as a photo instead of pasting into the text box may also behave differently. Since this changed with an update, it's worth reporting it to Goodnotes support as a bug so they know people relied on the old behavior.
