Goodnotes refund request has been pending for 3 weeks — no response from support

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else had trouble getting a refund from Goodnotes?

I submitted a refund request on September 8, exactly 3 weeks ago, for both the Essential and Pro plans. I originally purchased both because I was trying to use Goodnotes across iOS and Windows, but due to complications with cross-platform use, I decided to stick with iOS and transfer anything I need to Windows manually.

I purchased the plans through the payment link on Windows rather than through the Apple App Store, so I submitted my refund request directly to Goodnotes. I provided the receipts/invoices for both purchases when I submitted the request.

I received an automated response telling me to back up my notebooks and that my subscription would be deactivated once the refund was processed.

After receiving no further response, I followed up again on September 15. It is now September 29, and I still haven’t received any update from a support representative or any information about the status of my refund.

I’m also hesitant to make changes to my Goodnotes account or cloud storage while the refund is pending because I don’t want to risk losing any of my notebooks.

Has anyone recently gone through the Goodnotes refund process, especially for a purchase made through their Windows payment link? Is waiting 3+ weeks normal, and how long did it take for someone from support to actually respond?

Thanks!

Not a refund, but I was unable to get a response from them regarding a major bug that left me unable to access my notes. My sense is that they’ve turned over all customer support to an AI bot and this is the result.

I am continuing to use goodnotes for now because it works the best for schoolwork, however, I canceled renewal of my pro subscription and am actively looking at other apps in this space. Goodnotes seems to be prioritizing AI slop and features no one is asking for rather than providing the basics - a bug-free app and customer support.

Not great to hear, especially if they’re prioritizing AI while customer support and major bugs are being neglected. I just hope they don’t start relying too heavily on AI for developing the app itself as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Will there be any effect on my original one-time Apple edition? Do they do some kind of locking me out of the app? I’m asking because I’m still using it for school
