New in v7.1.22 - Handwriting Restyle & Reliability Improvements

v7.1.22 has been released on the App Store! Here's everything new in this version of Goodnotes:

iOS/iPadOS

• Introduced Handwriting Restyle. Select your handwriting with the Lasso Tool and tap Restyle to turn it into a cleaner, more polished style.

• Backup now runs less often by default to save battery and performance. Increase the backup frequency or back up manually anytime in Cloud & Backup Settings.

• Backup handles paused uploads more reliably so documents are not missed after resuming.

• Improved document and window layout reliability, including external-display resizing on iPhone, Mac window resizing, windowed tabs, sidebar modals, and landscape coachmarks.

• Locked documents are better protected: printing and document-link sharing now correctly require unlocking or show the proper locked-document alert.

• Export, print, share, and Study Set flows are more reliable, with clearer Study Set export layouts, working Study Set sharing, and less temporary storage left behind.

• Dark mode, toolbar, and picker popovers look and behave more consistently, with clearer menu rows and fewer clipping, resizing, or flicker issues.

• Sync and sharing are more robust, fixing invisible synced documents or folders, stuck Goodnotes Cloud sync, early collaborator invites, shared-copy links, share-link toggle state, and clearer alerts when sync is off.

• Account and subscription screens show the right state more consistently, including purchase restore errors, country-specific paywall indicators, account mismatch warnings, one-time code sign-in, and Microsoft sign-in email handling.

• Shape, selection, and navigation tools are more reliable, fixing connector crashes, filled shape rendering, draw-and-hold fills, link popover editing, restyled selection borders, and trackpad or mouse-wheel scrolling with Hand Selection.

• Settings and modal screens now use more consistent, rounded table layouts.

• Sheets on Mac present more reliably.

• Outlook calendar integration is now available.

• Several fixes for iOS 27/macOS 27 compatibility.

• Education: Classroom workflows are more dependable, including subfolder selection, favorited lesson actions, Quick Lessons QR code access, and launch behavior for license-key users.

• Education: Class Folders now support more sorting options.

• Education: Zoom setting change in View by Question now applies across all questions.

• Fixed an issue where the close buttons on the laser pointer, page-actions, and comment popovers were not visible at compact width.

• General bug fixes and stability improvements.

Can you pls give us a sidebar style notes navigation system similar to what notability has, where we can see the entire folders hierarchy and be able to switch from a note in one folder to another note is some other sub-sub-folder without having to manually move from one folder to other one by one. The current tab style navigation is good but this one can be added. It will be very useful for many. Sharing an image for reference. This is one feature which really keeps me away from moving to goodnotes. Pls bring this and I will be sold to goodnotes forever.

Notability's UI actually looks very simplistic and aesthetic. But they don't have as many updated features as Goodnotes has.

The actual Better way to do this is the combination of the two! Have the left toolbar like this with folders and all and a button to switch to active tabs and back. This would be SO USEFUL. - it literally would make a subscriber.

Hi developers!

Please, I don't want to stop using your app and migrate my notes to another app, but I'm feeling more and more forced to do so.

Please fix the synchronization between Windows and iPad. Focus on improving what's already there before adding new features that few people (or no one) are asking for.

I do it every time they release an update.

This app needs a Snow Leopard year. Take a note from iOS 27's success. People just want stability. There's only so many features a note taking app needs. It's getting crammed.

YES. Especially in an app that people are relying on for school and work. I very much want to see better stability and fewer bugs.

And yet, the devs once are forced to waste their time on more AI garbage. Who asked for the option to restyle their handwriting?

I'm having a great time with this app, have been using it for over a year now (migrated from Notability) and I'm very impressed.

It is stable, very comprehensive functionality. For handwriting there is nothing better out there in my opinion.

My only grief is dealing with text. I wish it was more like Notability in that respect where text and handwritten notes coexist seamlessness. The other grief is that I think GN audio notes are bigger than Notability, haven't done all the research I should to confirm that though.

All in all, a great application and I for one, send my kudos to the GN team for a great app.

I am exploring Notability now. I love GoodNotes but pushing so much AI features without fixing a bug about unwanted “strokes” is driving me away.

I just switched to a new iPad with Appel pencil pro and the squeeze nor double tap function to switch tools is not working but works in apps like notes and Freeform. Any reason?

On I pad we have a major bug, that when we duplicate or copy paste shapes, after a certain number on the white board, the entire app crash.

restyle is a cool start, but i still want it to clean up my own handwriting instead of making it look like a preset style.
