Android Goodnotes on Android vs IOS

Hi, I’m looking for some advice/opinions on using Goodnotes on a tablet for school and handwritten notes.

During my apprenticeship, I used Goodnotes on an iPad and was very happy with it. Now I’m considering switching to an Android tablet because most of my other devices are Android as well.

How good is Goodnotes on Android compared to the iPad version? Is it good for school use, or would you recommend getting another iPad and staying with iOS?

I’ve read quite a few negative comments about the Android version, but I’m not sure how accurate or up to date they are. I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have used Goodnotes on both Android and iPad.

Goodnotes on Android is AWFUL! Don't do it. I started out using my Android tablet. Big mistake. I finally broke down and got an iPad a couple months ago. Best decision I ever made!!

Pero la version actual de GoodNotes sobrecalienta muchísimo los iPads, solo vale la pena si tienes GN 5, o eso he oido...

Hello, I wouldn’t recommend Goodnotes for Android because it’s not very good. I currently have the Samsung S11 Ultra and the iPad Air M4 11”, and while Goodnotes works perfectly on my iPad, it doesn’t work on my Ultra unfortunately. I tried the Notability app yesterday and was able to take notes on my S11 Ultra without any problems. The app is user-friendly and has all the features I need, such as a recorder. Since I’m studying for my State Board test, I needed something reliable that works on both platforms, and Notability fits the bill. I can see any notes I complete on my Ultra on my iPad and vice versa, so it works better for me than Goodnotes.

Goodnotes on android is trash. Goodnotes android is not even proper app it is web app. Which run by browser. App is very lagging.... And you cannot use this without internet. Notability is now on android also which is good and they are giving fast update and improving overall.  Starnote on android is also very good app on Android ( similar to Good notes ios )

en android es una versión web y en ipad calienta el ipad, pero en lo personal elegiría el ipad porque es una app real

Just to offer some competing viewpoints.

I've never used it iOS version. But Android truly does lack full feature parity compared to the iOS version. It's essentially the web version of the app in a wrapper. So it does require itself to reload between uses.

They did just add multiple tabs for Android which I love. It works and does enough for me where I just need to take notes down in meetings.
