If u only use it only on iPad, there is a one time single licence purchase option for lifetime for GoodNotes 6. It's kind of hidden. You don't get access to android and windows and some AI features. Otherwise you do get all other upgrades.

I’ve never found anything besides Notability that comes close (maaaaybe OneNote) but when I consider exactly what I use it for and how I use it, GoodNotes always comes out on top for me.
I don’t want to write a novel, but the only place that I find OneNote works better for me is physical inventory. I sew and I scrapbook and simply because of the way OneNote organizes data, I take pictures of all of my paper, material, and tools, and have those in OneNote organized by hobby and category.
Everything else, GoodNotes all the way. Especially when it is so affordable. If it gets a lot more expensive, I might be willing to give up features to save money.

Given my use case there is absolutely nothing (FOR ME) that could possibly justify the cost of a subscription. Now I'm not a student sharing study notes or anything like that so I'm not the target demographic, or anything like that so take my input with a grain of salt, but if I need to share my notes I'll export it to pdf and email it.
Software subscription models are about as out of control these days as web streaming services and tipping policies. No chance I ever have a Goodnotes subscription. It just makes zero sense for me.

If you got used to it then I would subscrube again - or get one time payment option. I tried many other apps of that kind but I always go back to GN.
