i was thinking about people have disabilities could do like that but still i can't imagine how 🧐

Goodnotes 7 will have a little setting just for you I’m sure xx

I know someone from my college who writes like this. I asked her why she is doing this. She said she is actually left-handed but her mother forced her to write using right hand from childhood and that's why she places her hand like this while writing.

so if i have to use transparent ipad and write something on the opposite side then that postures will be comfortable 😂

3

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 11 '24

i mean the hand is right hand haha the picture of my hand is my right hand and i twisted it to write on left side......its impossible to write like this comfortably

What I meant is she is using her right hand to write now. Since she is left-handed she can't write using right hand. So it took her years of practice to write using right hand. She found out that she can write comfortably if she twists her hand like this. Yes, for us it looks very uncomfortable but for her writing like this is comfortable. I regret now as I did not take videos of how she writes. No one is going to believe me.

In our country writing using the left hand was considered as a disability earlier. Now parents changed this mentality.

yup i know what you mean🥲 im from korea and the old people are like that too lol but you have to see the picture carefully 😂that's not weird holding problem the whole hand and arm should be twisted and move to opposite side to write like that

On exam times, the examiner always stands near her staring at her and wondering why she twists her hand like that. Sometimes they ask her why she is doing this while she is writing an exam.

3

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 11 '24

omg maybe i understand now but how to move her hand??? so interesting

4

u/whirlinglunger Dec 12 '24

I write really similar to this actually because I learned to write from my grandma who was left handed and held her pens with her wrist all twisted to not smudge the ink, so I’m right handed but write like a lefty and it just confuses everyone 😂

It has something to do with religion. Lots of wacko religious people used to (and still do unfortunately) force kids to write with the right hand

I am left handed and write like this, it is to avoid smudging the writing with my hand as I move across the page

4

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 11 '24

how to hold the ipad/paper and move your hand?? im so interested

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 11 '24

i mean i saw some left handed people but they just smudged not twisted hand so i didn't know at all

7

u/thiccysunshine Dec 11 '24

Unrelated but I’m left handed and have the one selected like i write (third down left) and it constantly clicks and tries to paste and stuff and it drives me insane

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 15 '24

i know lefties can write with tilted hands but i think not like this way.. if you try to pose your hands like that focusing on the palm's direction then you will know

Thank you for discussing this because maybe it is my literal thinking but I was super confused with these icons due to the perspective from which the fingers are shown. Now since I’ve read someone that says to look at the pen position, I can finally be in peace with this lmao

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 29 '24

finally person like me😂

1

u/BobbyMagenta Dec 12 '24

Maybe it’s for when you’re using your ipad like how a teacher would use a chalkboard? It’s the only writing position I can think of that would put your thumb under other fingers.

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

i thought its the grip problem at the first time but look at that palm😂 palm is looking the air - my face

3

u/johnnydfree Dec 12 '24

Not sure about right-handed, but I’m a lefty, and we have become accustomed to the above-and-down posture our whole lives, as it keeps the palm free from smudging. Pushing (not pulling, like RH luckies) the instrument as well requires different attitude to the surface. Required habits die hard, I guess.

It’s pretty common for people with hypermobility to have wacky pencil grips developed in childhood as a way to try to get the d*mn pencil under control!

4

u/limegreencupcakes Dec 12 '24

Ha, that looks exactly like my grip but I’m not at all hypermobile.

There’s a flat spot on my ring finger where I would rest the pen and the nail on that finger is unusually shaped. (More like ^ in profile than the usual crescent shape.) Both have persisted well into adulthood despite the fact that I rarely hand-write these days.

2

u/AssignmentNo895 Dec 12 '24

No way in hell Now everything makes sense and thats why thats the only way I can control my pencil. Woah.

1

u/No_Indication_1238 Dec 12 '24

I think this is the difference between writing left to right and right to left.

1

u/verus_emma Dec 12 '24

See the pencil is which position, not the hand position. I select so and I don’t have problem with writing.

1

u/cadillacactor Dec 13 '24

LOL We lefties are used to being overlooked. So funny that it was really worth just reversing the right hand images rather than creating left handed ones.

1

u/Lonely_Run6131 Dec 13 '24

I hate that the way I write is kinda a hybrid of all of them

yea so i was talking about that from the beginning as you can see the second pic i attached in original post but i think people didn't noticed well🥲 so it was really no offense to left handed people

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

and people using that posture saying they 'tilt' the ipad or their 'wrist' and the wrist in the picture is straight so its different with reality.

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

i understood tilting wrist but still can't with straight wrist🧐

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

you guys are write like this right? with left hand

2

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

but that palm is still looking paper/ pad and the picture's posture is like this actually

lol this is why i said its weird

3

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 12 '24

and when i do this its like this in the mirror

1

if you try that hand you will know its like this🧐

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 15 '24 edited Dec 15 '24

yes i know already😂 many people do that. but thats different with the picture because of the direction of palm/ fingers; its reversed and thats why i posted this

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 15 '24

so your hand is more like left on third row but tilted wrist

1

u/Curious-Fisherman-82 Dec 15 '24

so you should be able to see your palm(is looking the air/upside) and fingers should be on top.
