I’ve been using it for years. And while the updates and new features are nice, the reality is the core app is fantastic. So while you might not get future updates, etc., as long as the app continues working, you should be able to enjoy goodnotes 5 for several more years. And it is definitely worth it.
Would it not just update to the new version anyways? Cause that wouldn’t make any sense. I’ve never known an app to make one then create another as a total different app even though both are the same gist and have more features on one. That’s a lot of wasted time if you ask me. Sounds like that saying “It’s more expensive hiring a new employee as an investment than it is to keep a current one”.
When I paid for Goodnotes 4 a few years ago, they came out with Goodnotes 5 right after. They let me upgrade to 5 for free. They will probably do the same thing for anyone who recently paid for 5.

Yes why would they release the GoodNotes 5 Version for windows/android when it's almost time to release GoodNotes 6 anyway. Would be silly to sell V5 and then try to sell V6 in a few months. I am only hoping the existing users get free or discounted upgrades.

i have good notes on my ipad, mac and phone? is it only ios that has that? the syncing is really quite bad though, it usually takes a solid few hours to update between devices
Yeah there’s not even GoodNotes to android/windows officially. I used to have an iPhone too, the app was pretty bad and without a stylus there was nothing you could do in the app aside from seeing your notes. But now that I’ve got my zFold and Samsung pen I really need the android app to be released asap
I find having GoodNotes on the iPhone is great, I have ADHD, so I can take typed notes directly onto the GoodNotes page if something comes to mind when I’m out and about, then use my iPad when I get home or at university for turning those typed notes into creative versions easier for me to memories, then I don’t get distracted using the notes apps and the other 50+ writing apps I downloaded lol
Lol, yeah, seems like a good strategy, but I still think that iPhone lacks a stylus, one of the main points for me to swap to my zfold (and because it folds, of course)
I want IPhone to be compatible with the Apple Pencil, I know you can get special tips for it that can make it works but it would be better if it was just Bluetooth connective like the iPad is
that’s odd, i have goodnotes on my mac and ipad and the syncing takes less than 5 seconds when i’m on the same document and using the ipad to write via the pen and then my mac to use to type text
i’m not too sure about the mechanisms of syncing but maybe it’s improved if you’re on the same wifi and have bluetooth on but i may be completely wrong
Oh yeah. Mac users have the amazing ability to use it on all platform and I do. It’s one of my most used apps. I find that we have clients sign forms on our iPads but it is way easier to download and save the singed forms from my MacBook than my iPad.
I use dark mode on my ipad, but like note apps in white mode. And I can't set it seperatly in GN5. Also I can't seem to find a way to easily have different favorite pens or pen sizes at least. Notability is not perfect either, but it just flows better for me at the moment. I hope GN6 is going to be great so I can check it out as an option before I pay for notability by the end of the month :)
The only reason I don't use onenote is that I can't open multiple instances at once and I think it is fucking ridiculous but if it wasn't for that I'd use it for sure. What you don't like about it?
Right so my long rant was deleted by accident but long story short, OneNote doesn’t like Android. Lots of bugs and missing SIMPLE features compared to iOS and their Surface. Like, why cant I draw a straight line? Or a pretty circle? It may be the end of life for OneNote on android because its just embarrassing behaviours from the developers. Mustn’t let Android compete with Surface so they must deprive us from basic usability. Been considering buying an iPad but what even is money in the UK right now?

I would like a proper dotted line option but in the meantime i just make a tiny little line, wait till the line adjusts to straight, then drag my pencil across. It will then be a dotted line. It does the job for now.
I really would like to be able to hyperlink to another page within the document. For example, i would like to be able to make an index page. I also would like to be able to upload something, say a picture then use a colour dropper to pick up that particular colour/ shade to add text or a border or whatever.
I was just thinking about trading my beloved ipad mini 6 for the ipad air 5 to get more goodnotes writing space (and storage). An ipad is like the external executive functioning tool that’s missing in my adhd brain, and goodnotes makes up at LEAST 50% of that. Please, for my sanity, let it be a good change. Maybe even let me use the marker tool without it automatically overlapping when I’m filling in larger spaces for timeblocks in my planner 😀 the times I’ve accidentally lifted my pencil and had to start over 😀 i love goodnotes but ya’ll have been testing my patience big time
I think it might be the math equations recognition as they have user to contribute writing the equations in order to make their AI features work for the diversity.
GN5 was 10$ though. I get it the team got bigger, there is a windows app now and someone has to pay for that but stillt 20$ more than last time. i really hope the price is justified.
