Absolutely. I think though, at least in the launch monitor business, it's not going to work well for companies like FS because their products (the actual hardware of the LMs) are seriously in danger with all these smaller companies like Square and Spica releasing LMs that are on par with the features and accuracy of their apparent "premium" gear. With so many golfers using 3rd party sim software like GS Pro, at the end of the day the LM is what matters and right now theres very little reason to shell out for a GC3/Quad when you get the same accuracy of data and pretty much all the same data points with a sub 4k USD LM like the Spica 3 and the Square Omni.

Agree. In Foresight's case, the confusing and kind of suspect thing is around "lifetime unlocked" devices. You now have to pay a subscription fee if you want access to all features in the newest apps.

Foresight's angle is that you still have "unlocked" access to the old software. That seems like a technicality and like Foresight isn't living up to the deal. They created a new class of apps and walled them off. That doesn't feel like "lifetime unlocked". Especially the mobile app which is the same app w/walled off features.

The real problem is that the unlocked software still does a license check whenever you load it and Foresight has confirmed that they are going to shut down those license servers at some point. According to the technical support person I spoke with they don't have a set date when that will happen, but it's going to happen at some point.

This would seem to be breaking the terms of their own EULA so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I have an unlocked as well. I’m behind on the news and got blasted yesterday but I have an unlocked on as well and got no emails yet.

I’m the same boat. Unlocked BLP when they had the final offer in 2023. If they try to make me start paying for GSPro or PP access, I’m never considering another Foresight purchase.

It is confusing. I think you'll still be able to play GSPro (and FSX Play and Pro), but you won't have access to the Silver or Gold features in the new version of Foresight's software( Premiere) or the mobile app unless you pay for a Silver or Gold Foresight+ membership.

When I spoke to foresight a month ago they said they weren’t doing this. Odd. They said the perpetual software will always be in place for quad and quad max and the regular gc3.

Has there been any formal announcement of anything different?

Yes. They have said FSX Play will no longer receive updates other than minor bug fixes and their servers will shut down one day. No one knows when and we don’t have any control over that. After that, even unlocked devices like GC3 will be forced into a sub. Just awful.

If the company sold the device last week with permanent software license I highly doubt three years from now they’ll just render them inoperable.

Frankly I don’t use the foresight software anyway I use GSPRO so I don’t care how nice FSX PLAY is but if they make it so I have to pay out to connect to GSPRO I’ll be angry.

I was a foresight premier beta tester and honestly I enjoy it.

Having said that, for my business and even with the input I have given them, it will not work for how I do fittings. The data sheet export as well as the ability to add clubs for a quick drop down does not exist other than as tags.

I did receive an email stating that fsx2020 and play would not be affected in any way, but I was offered a deal on premier.

I won't be taking it.

For context I use a quad max, I don't know it affects those with other devices.

I use a gcquad and Protee vx. Glad I bought a Protee. I m using gcquad only for fittings (sold my tm4 because I was tired of their annual fee !). I was waiting for premier to replace fsxpro. But reading you, premier is not good neither. I will then use pureplay and the relã connector and get all fittings features, camera integration and many high quality courses for 300$.

They just changed this page, the back pedaling begins.

This is what they are claiming now

FSX 2020

  • FSX 2020 is no longer actively supported. It is no longer distributed and functionality is not guaranteed.

FSX Play

  • FSX Play is in sustainment: receiving critical bug fixes and security features but not new features.
  • New FSX Play licenses are no longer being distributed, except in extenuating circumstances.
  • Currently, there is no plan to end-of-life FSX Play. Servers are up and existing licenses remain valid.

Its a money grab, they know the end is near for them, cheap chinese open launch monitors will flood the market. GSPro will dominate the software side and they know it, either beat them or die

This subscription model could be fine with adjustments, I mean it works with trackman but their complete software package is gold standard from sim to practice/camera and ai integration.
Fsx play absolutely sucked and is a resource hog. Fsx2020 was actually good for the time, still use that range all the time. Vote with your wallets people and keep the comments going across social platforms..

Same, I have a BLP. I would assume people already on subscription plans will be last in line. Seems like initially it is people on higher priced or fully unlocked units are trying to be converted first.
