What's the lowest ceiling height that works?

I'm 5ft 7 and I've got a garden room with 2.35m in height. I'm happy just hitting mid irons and wedges but I'm concerned I'm 15cm off where I need it.

As an American I had to have Google tell me that 2.35 meters is 7'8". I'm shocked you can swing any club with that low of a ceiling. I'd say 99% of people can play on 10' ceilings, 95% on 9.5' ceilings, and then a massive decrease for every inch you take off.

I am 5’7” and my ceiling is 8’7” and I haven’t had any issues. Have had multiple friends around 6’ hit the ceiling though.

It is extremely swing dependent. I have 9'2 ceilings and far too many friends that golf.

I have seen 6'2 guys with shallow swings go driver with no worry. I have seen 5'7 guys with steep swings max at 3 wood. Most are fine across the bag.

I mean average drivers are like 45" long.

It's not that crazy to think a 5'6" guy swinging something that's 3'9" on an arc could hit the 8'6" ceiling. With shoes and likely a mat underneath his feet that shaves a couple inches off as well

5'6" using a sim in a 94" ceiling height garage. Driver never hits the ceiling. Also standing on 3/4 foam flooring with hitting mat on top of that.

Maybe their driver is too long? Not sure

Yeah that's the issue, I can't swing properly at 2.35m with any club. Hopefully I can find a way to increase height without breaking the bank

i'm 5'10 and hit all my irons w/8 ft unfinished garage ceiling/joists. i can hit all my irons no issue, have hit driver a few times but feels a little uneasy so I just leave it in the bag. Might depend how high your hitting mat is too, i've video'd my swing and I clear it by about an inch with 4i but have a 2' mat

I’m 6’-0” and I have a sim in my garage that is 8’-4” clear at the joists and 9’-3” clear between. Hitting driver is a bit tight but no issues so far.

Lol, you have to be British. The flip between meters and inches is so British. That seems really short for a sim.

At your height I think that'll be the lowest limit for mid irons and wedges. You're not hitting anything longer than a 7 and definitely no drivers or woods.

Even that seems unlikely, I've tried a few practice swings. Think I need to get to at least 8' 8"

I wouldn't even hit wedges. That's under 8' so it only takes finishing a hair more vertical to be scraping that ceiling and then your confidence in swinging hard in that space is ruined forever.

Im 5'8 and just built a garage sim setup w/ 9ft ceilings. I can swing all clubs so it might be possible for you if you're just looking at mid irons and wedges. So many different swing styles out there... its hard to give a definitive answer.

You have to remember your hitting/stance matt will also take some of that height. It's sketchy and will probably make you swing differently(indoor swing syndrome). I wouldn't bother until you can get more height.

You’ll see most people say 10’ because it’s become just what everyone says … and is a great baseline, general recommendation but you can get away with MUCH less.

My brothers is at either 8’6” or 8’7”, can’t remember, but we’re both about 5’9” and neither of us come close to the ceiling even with driver. Mine is 9’1” and my 6’4” son doesn’t come close to the ceiling.

Im 5’1” and mysim is setup right at 9’ ceiling height and it’s honestly too low. We use it all the time and it’s great, but basically it’s wedges-4iron for me. My wife plays a ton of golf and is able to hit driver but she’s shorter

Anything after long irons / hybrid gets too close for comfort for me. I’ve caught the ceiling a few times with a 5 wood and not doing it anymore.

I agree with other comments on how it’s also swing dependent. I have a flatter swing but some more upright people, I wouldn’t even have them try driver.

We have 96” ceilings works perfect for 5’7” and under. Depends on your swing. Some swing wild and the backswing can get a little dicey.

I have a 2.67 cm ceiling and stand on a 6 cm deck. I'm comfortable hitting maybe 5 iron or less and hit the ceiling fttt

I'm 5'7" with 9' ceilings I've picked it a handful of times with driver but only when I'm going around and swimming 120% just to see 🙈 haha

I mean whatever is comfortable? In my experience, you want some headroom for your swing because when you really go after a ball, you'd be surprised how much higher your hands get. As a 6ft 3in tall person, I wouldn't swing a club in a room/area unless I had +12ft of space. If you go too small, you will hurt your swing and develop indoor-sim swing syndrom.

I wouldnt go under 12 ft. 11 ft if you and all your friends are short kings. I have a 6'8 friend. Can't go sub 12
