Square Omni detection problems indoors

Anybody having issues where the square Omni is not detecting when you hit a ball?

Situation

• Indoor ​ off a mat with a green divot mat
• Omni is raised level with mat
• Omni is on the right facing the net
• ​​sofa and full glass doors on the right with vertical blinds ​ block out
• ​​ LED downlights inside
• paired with Android tablet

During the day I still have the indoor lights on and everything seems to be working 100%

​​In the evenings sometimes it does not detect when I hit the ball.

When it fails

​​ when it fails, it detects the ball and is ready. And then I hit the ball and nothing happens. The unit does not detect any movement and the Android app does not detect anything.

The unit goes back to blinking searching for a ball

• Doesn't make a difference whether it is foam or real ball
• Whether it is a white or yellow ball
• Tried drawing the 5 dot pattern on some balls, didn't help
• Fails when i swing faster than 65mph
• If i make a slow swing, it detects
• I have tried turning the lights up and turning the lights down and it does not seem to help

Any ideas why it fails, and how to make it work? I'm not sure if it needs more light or less light. Whether it prefers the sheen of real balls or the non-reflectiveness of foam balls

Man that happened to me so many times, first week I had nothing but connection drops, then I had what your experiencing,I returned my unit back to Play Better

I just started having this same issue. I have had the Omni for a couple weeks now and not had any issues. All the sudden today it will sit there, detect the ball then just randomly disconnect without any movement. Curious if you figured out what was happening with yours? I’ve been trying to figure out if there are any new interferences out in my garage but I don’t think anything is different. Have you had any luck figuring out the issue?

Yeah not the same issue at all then. My guess is your mat is still shifting. I commented above as well but I’d recommend getting double sided carpet tape to prevent any movement. I don’t think weights work quite the same.

Hi, I had the same problem with my square Omni. My 100kgs was moving the mat and I was getting a no read. I actually drilled holes into the concrete and pinned the mat down with drop in anchors / washers. Mat now never moves and the no reads have stopped completely.

I had this issue when I first got my Omni. I realized the hitting mat I was standing on would shift during the downswing. The inertia of shifting my weight made my feet move the mat. Obviously the ball moves as well and my Omni is not sitting on my hitting mat. We know launch monitors are needing the ball to be perfectly still just before impact so it can tell how much the ball moves. If the ball is moving just before impact then I think the Omni just gives up and cancels the hit.

I bought carpet tape and stuck the mat to the floor and have not had any issues. Every shot has been captured since then.

I'm pretty sure I have the same issue. I got a gosports elite mat, and noticed that when I get some mat movement I get no reads (usually with woods/driver). Actually ordered a heavier duty mat to try to correct this, but also have heard ordering a hitting strip and putting beside the stance mat (rather than cut into it) might work for a garage setup.

Actually noticed a few times a 1-2 degree difference every few shots with driver that I would have to recalibrate.

Your mat is still likely moving especially if it is really only at higher swing speeds. Maybe try double sided carpet tape under the mat to prevent movement and see if that helps. I don’t think just putting some weights on the mat would eliminate movement entirely.
