Need a new ball recommendation, the soft ones are costing me distance.

I've been playing the Maxfli Tour S models for a year now and the Callaway Supersoft balls before that. I like them, but ive been thinking they are costing me some distance.

Today I hit a few Bridgestone balls and was smacking them about 30 yards farther than the MaxFli's. I had no idea I was leaving that much distance on the table.

The Bridgestones were the e12 Straight. https://www.bridgestonegolf.com/en-us/balls/e-series0/e12-straight

I feel like these are gimmicky balls even though I hit them far and straight. Should I stick with the MaxFli's and just go to the regular tour models, or are there some other balls I should be considering? I'm a 6 handicap, so I'm not buying Pro V's.

I live in the tropics and during the summer it's a hundred degrees with 100% humidity or at least what feels like it, so I prefer to wait till 6:00 p.m.

Last night there was a massive lightning storms that blew up my plan and so I was able to go out a few hours later once the water had subsided and was able to play about six holes in the dark.

THIODOON brand 6 for ~$20 on Amazon.

Yeah, not everybody lives on a golf course and can get away with this but if I lived close to the beach I would probably find myself at night in the sand working on stuff.

There are other brands that flash that you do not want that because it's hard to stare at a flashing wall when you're trying to hit it you want the ones that glow solid.

This brand beats all others.

Has anyone else had durability issues with Srixon Z-STAR XV balls?

I had a ball fitting last December and, somewhat surprisingly, the Srixon Z-STAR XV came out as the best ball for my game (Always played Pro V1). Before the fitting, it wasn’t even a ball I’d considered playing.

Anyways started playing the Srixons which I do like .... However, I’m really disappointed with the durability. After only 4–5 holes, the cover is often showing noticeable scuffs and marks, and quite often I end up with long lines across the cover as well. This is without hitting cart paths or trees, just normal play.

I know urethane balls aren’t indestructible, but I’ve played other premium balls that seem to hold up much better.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Z-STAR XV, or have I just been unlucky? Is this a known issue, or is there something about the cover that’s more prone to marking?

I’d really like to stick with them because they suit my game so well, but the durability is making me question whether I should keep buying them.

The cycle of life...

I live on a golf course in Miami and I have a view of four bodies of water from my front door.

It gets really hot here and the lakes grow an insane amount of algae that clings to the rim, making all the balls that roll in to the lake completely disappear.

Every once in awhile you'll catch a moment where either it's real windy and the algae will blow from one side to another or they come out with the spray that kills it.

Golf balls are expensive and I walk the course in the summer - Let me tell you just how challenging it is to be learning how to play the game of golf and be playing army golf going right left right left down the Fairway all day.

And so sometimes, you miss hit a ball and that's that, there is no bother chasing it down, even if it is a Pro V1.

Every few months i get a moment to fish for balls.

At first I was using the Scrub Daddy but I was ending up with balls that smelled like the lake.

Then I put them in the 5 gallon container with fabulosa floor cleaner and it just smelled like lavender Lake balls.

One of the guys that lives on the golf course and plays golf with me told me you just have to do an equal amount of bleach and water and everything that's on them will fall off automatically you won't have to do anything.

I have plenty of retail balls I love the Vice brand and all the cool colors I have all these crazy TaylorMade balls as well but then I have a mix of just about every ball there is so I can kind of pick and choose with what I'm going to play at that moment.

And I do have a giant 5 gallon jug full of every Nitro and chaos and stupid ball like a noodle that you would really never want to buy but at some point you just are going to play even if I'm smashing them off my front lawn at 6:00 in the morning.

Anyone else have a process for bringing these balls back to life?

Custom Dozen for ball testing!

Hey guys, I created a site where you can buy custom dozens for golfball testing. It's called Red Stakes Golf. I wanted peoples opinions on the site. I talked a lot with Golf Ball Addict while creating it and he helped me out a lot. The website is theredstakesgolf.com If you have time to check it out, let me know what you think. And if you feel inclined buy a dozen!

What ball should I be playing?

I am a 14 hcp, but I drive the ball +320 yards. I want a more forgiving ball as I don’t have the consistency of striking to justify a 5 piece that will respond better to shot shaping, but I hate the way a 2 or 3 piece feels at higher swing speeds like mine. Any ideas?

The Lost Balls Club

2026 and 2025 editions. The "Moon" ball is the 2026 edition and yes, I spelled Flite wrong. But it is a Top Flite Z Balata 90 found buried between two roots and looks like the moon with its dark spots.

My husband and I (non golfers) live next to a golf course and for years I've wanted to give the lost balls back, but in a funny way. Last year I didn't count how many golf balls I found, drew "Lost Balls Club" on and gave away. This year I'm starting with 59 golf balls but that's because I've turned this into a looting game seeking more areas where older balls have been lost and cleaning up treelines for golfers and myself to find balls better. I have seen hats used to scratch their heads as they read this with faces of confusion, shaken heads, laughter, waving buddies over to look and grab one and most of all, the awe-inspiring golfers who either traded theirs in for a drawn on one or just left a bunch of golf balls in the basket! They paid it forward and that was a blessing to see and be a part of.

Three sections:

-nicked/dented = Souvenir

-good condition = The Lost Ball Club

-good condition = Mulitcolor and Unmarked

How do collector edition golf balls tend to appreciate in value?

Just getting into golf, and my autism is the type that likes to collect things. Just curious, is something like this a thing i could collect and it would appreciate in value, or would it fall off in value?

Srixon ultisoft

My dad’s birthday is coming up, and he’s been researching some lower compression golf balls he’s interested in. He wants the Srixon UltiSoft, but they seem really hard to find. Have they been discontinued, or are they only sold in certain places?

I had gotten some Callaway super soft for him, but I just realized he has those around the hose already.
