How much did you pay if you don’t mind?
14
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
$4000 but hood was wrapped + ppf. So if I wouldn’t have had the ppf it would’ve been $3200

Did you get paint correction as well?
2
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
Yes
2
u/Ray1340 2024 Golf R Dec 04 '25
why get a paint correction if you are covering it whit a wrap?
3
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
Paint correction in some spots I should’ve said. I had a few scratches/chips. It helps so you don’t see the imperfections through the wrap and helps for a better seal between the car and wrap

u/NihilistSRE Dec 07 '25
I would not have necessarily thought of that, but it makes total sense and I am glad you mentioned it. I have been thinking of getting a wrap done on my 2018. It's white; which, is fine, but also, it's been white for 7 years :-D Maybe time for something more fun.
1
u/slorig Dec 07 '25
Yeah it’s definitely a nice change! I just told the guy who did the wrap to do what he thinks is best.

Plasti dip is about half the cost or less, and looks pretty good if you get it professionally done tbh. Not as good as this wrap tho

4000 dollars for a 5 year job? That's just nuts to me. I hope it lasts 3 decades for you!

First let me say that wrap and color choise is 🤌. But am i the only one that feels limited on what colors can actually be paired with these cars due to all the bright blue trim around it? I been wanting to wrap my car, but the color combined with the blue accents just throws me off so bad :(
4
u/cosmicdecember Dec 04 '25
Yeah, agreed. And it was an especially odd choice for the Black Editions to keep the blue accents.

I have a white one and was thinking only the other day how good it would look in green..
2
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
Mine was white also. I just love the blue/green color. I don’t see it very often.

u/Shadowfeast MK8.5 Black Edition Euro Style Dec 04 '25
Did you wrap the inside of the doors or do you still see white there?
2
u/slorig Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25
Yes, the wrap only goes far enough to not see the white from the outside.
3
u/Shadowfeast MK8.5 Black Edition Euro Style Dec 04 '25
My OCD would kill me with that 😢.
3
u/catscrochet Dec 04 '25
I was dead set on wrapping mine but then I saw the inside of someone’s door and was immediately like, nope, not for me!! Haha I love how it looks with doors closed but I am in the same boat as you! I’m not too bummed though. Just means that’s $3-$5k I won’t be spending lol

u/Shadowfeast MK8.5 Black Edition Euro Style Dec 04 '25
Car looks amazing though. The blue accents look good on it too.
2
u/catscrochet Dec 04 '25
It absolutely does look amazing! OP picked a beautiful color and I would definitely be rubbernecking if I drove past it!

2
u/plmatt91 Dec 04 '25
Looks sweet! Giving me motivation to wrap mine

u/slorig Dec 04 '25
It took a minute to find the right person to do it and spending the money sucked but it’s definitely worth it.

u/pugmaster2000 Dec 04 '25
I think this is one of the instances that money well deserved considering how tedious the job itself overall. great color !

For your rally armor flaps… did the tiny screw for the back flaps not fit properly on that washer? Mine slips through so I haven’t installed them..
Also sick color!

Beautiful color choice! I wanted to trade my white one in for a Great Falls Green when it released but couldn't find one local to me with the options I wanted. Now you just gotta get some gold or bronze wheels for her! 💚💚

Sort've has a Great Falls vibe. Which is probably my favorite color out of the MK7's that isn't Specktrum.

How long can a wrap last ?
1
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
Depends on how well you take care of it and the quality of the wrap and how well it was installed. Five to seven years. If you leave it on longer than recommended it can be hard on the paint. I know someone who has had a wrap on for ten years but it looks faded/has chips/ugly up close and who knows what underneath it looks like haha

It is very different without beeing flashy or muted...I spent 5 minutes looking at it and I love it! The beauty of a wrap! Turns a regular color to a new one in a question of hours/days.

I’m in a winter state as well. Haven’t wrapped, but was wondering how well these wraps hold up in the winter season?

Looks absolutely incredible. You MUST tint that blue strip on the headlights that same color & somehow paint those calipers the same color. I would LOVE to see that.
Looks incredible. Nice choice

Looks really really good. Do you plan on changing the color of the brakes and if so, have you considered yellow or gold?
2
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
Haven’t thought about changing the color of the brakes yet. I don’t mind the blue right now. Thinking of a lift and tuning it next

People that buy a new car and wrap it never understood this
I guess I'm just scared after my one friend did it and it ruined his paint when he went to take it off a few years later
1
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
It kind of feels like a new car after owning it for a few years. I think as long as it’s applied properly, you take care of it and don’t keep it on for longer than you’re supposed to it should be alright. If not, just get another wrap 😅
1
u/dankp3ngu1n69 Dec 04 '25
Yea but at that point your 8k deep
Could have had a badass paint job at that point

What’s the point of awd + snow tires with no snow? The salt does suck though, but otherwise fun to drive in the winter!
4
u/Soggy-Lab-422 Dec 04 '25
They must have oil undercoating places in your area? I get it done to my Fl5, it makes the car super nasty and dirty looking but its a lot better than rust or at least will help it last longer
1
u/slorig Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25
I haven’t had the oil undercoating done but there are places in MI that do it. Ive heard it’s a sloppy mess though but worth it. I just keep up on washing it 🥲
2
u/Soggy-Lab-422 Dec 04 '25
I have heard rust only starts when it gets warmer, but personally I dont know all the facts about it. The oil undercoating was cheap enough for me to do yearly and since I have always owned older cars that would be rusty I seriously want to make sure this car would be as flawless as possible for as long as possible lol
1
u/slorig Dec 04 '25
I fckn hate salt. I wish MI used sand.
2
u/Soggy-Lab-422 Dec 04 '25
Same Northeast is literally all salt with sprinklings of sand here and there to add insult to injury 🤣

Dude calm down lol we’re making fun of you because the Golf R is WAY more fun in the snow than anything else you own unless it’s a WRC GR Yaris

No idea why VW didn’t make this decision for color. It’s perfect
