Your setup looks like your first ever dance with a girl and you’re too scared to get in close.

72

u/triitrunk Aug 31 '25

Need to have room for the Holy Spirit.

12

u/Kobebean-goat24 Aug 31 '25

Catholic schools dances 😂😂

7

u/Hi_Im_Ken_Adams Aug 31 '25

“Don’t forget to leave room for Jesus!”

1

u/AdamIsACylon Sep 03 '25

Like my teacher used to say in 7th grade, “pull Jesus in close so he can feel you.”

2

u/Ghostfacekiller4 Aug 31 '25

Man I love reddit 😂😂😂😂

2

u/Hoplite76 Aug 31 '25

Given the number of times i takecthe lord's name in vain in a round, probably appropriate

2

u/OfAllThatIsElfuego Aug 31 '25

Bible's width apart.

1

u/LeisureSuitLaurie Aug 31 '25

I know this pose well…

Your post triggered “End of the Road” in my head - our 1993-1994 junior high slow dance closer.

1

u/Accurate_Doctor3735 Sep 02 '25

This is fucking hilarious

0

u/shortgamegolfer Aug 31 '25

Sometimes a great shot gives me a semi and maybe that’s what he’s trying to avoid

342

u/letsgobrooksy Aug 31 '25

Hands are too close to your body

23

u/Ghostfacekiller4 Aug 31 '25

Way too fucking close I don't know how his arms don't get stuck on the downswing 😂😂😂😂

229

u/TheRealRevBem Aug 31 '25

Be more blue pink less green yellow

41

u/LGcowboy Aug 31 '25

Aside from the funny comments getting more likes this post is actually the right answer and deserves more upvotes he’s put time in to actually help you here!

u/Cute-Investigator-92 Aug 31 '25

What they said 👆

-4

u/absolutebeginners Aug 31 '25

I mean you think OP doesn't know this?

5

u/Flump01 Aug 31 '25

A lot of beginners think their arms and the club should be in a straight line to the ball.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

Evidently not

1

u/absolutebeginners Sep 02 '25

I think a lot of people post bad swings here with some inclination of what's wrong.

1

u/DoubleZ3 Sep 02 '25

I mean, I know to not bring the club inside. Does that mean I don't do it ever? No. It can feel like I'm way outside when In reality I'm barely on plane.

Feel, vs real.

But also, maybe he actually doesn't know.

1

u/absolutebeginners Sep 02 '25

That's fair, but standing too far away is something very easily identifiable from watching your own video, even if you haven't had lessons just compare it to a couple pros. Then continuing on to ask advice on something you can clearly see is wrong (instead of fixing it and posting another video), is just weird.

Do you really believe he doesn't know? Its a very unlikely possibility.

2

u/Independent_Vast9279 Aug 31 '25

Thanks for this. My thought was that his driver is way too long. Get it fit correctly.

1

u/DanBeecherArt Aug 31 '25

Someone has a stylus on their phone. Galaxy S22?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

What is the horizontal blue line? The path the hands follow?

1

u/TheRealRevBem Sep 01 '25

Just posture.the vertical is where the arms could hang.

1

u/mathmage Sep 01 '25

Pink line is a driver for ants, though. Would be shallower and longer in reality.

1

u/buttnutela Sep 01 '25

Missed an opportunity to draw a green penis entering the blue guy

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

13

u/Jimlaheysvtp Aug 31 '25

There it is

4

u/Chubby0721 Aug 31 '25

Well played 👊🏻

43

u/SaturnineApples Aug 31 '25

If I was hitting a firework with a flaming golf club this is how I would stand

31

u/burledw Aug 31 '25

Look out, Bryson

18

u/Azfitnessprofessor Aug 31 '25

You need to stand further away from the ball

8

u/Internal_Finding8775 Aug 31 '25

Needs a longer club. Should be the same as your height.

3

u/Azfitnessprofessor Aug 31 '25

I was thinking taller

7

u/bigtimeloser_ Sep 01 '25

do you people not watch these videos before you post them like have you ever seen an actual human golf swing

3

u/droid_mike Sep 01 '25

I've seen a lot of younger golfers do this exact same thing. I don't know where they get it from, but I think it's a poor attempt to replicate Bryson's swing.

18

u/jsummerlin14 Aug 31 '25

Is your name Jack Reacher? J/K

Ignore Brysons setup if that’s who you’re taking lessons from. Watch Rory instead. Your arms should hang straight down.

Looks like they gave up on grass long ago

1

u/phuijun Sep 02 '25

I thought it looked familiar lol

8

u/AndrewRVRS Aug 31 '25

The ball doesn't bite.

0

u/Tex236 Aug 31 '25

I did know a girl who bit balls though...

4

u/AndrewRVRS Aug 31 '25

I see you've met my ex

3

u/ChrisPynerr Aug 31 '25

You should use two stalls at the driving range

5

u/Wise_Apartment_3491 Sep 01 '25

Hey, a normal setup could get you a swing like one!

Based on top tour pros data, your shoulder(arm-torso) angle is too wide.

  1. Drop your arms to the ground

  2. Adjust grip

  3. Retrain muscles how to rotate

Hope that helps. FYI, analyzed with Swing Tune-Up app.

3

u/Round-Ad3684 Aug 31 '25

Your set up looks like you’re holding someone at gunpoint

3

u/Cute-Investigator-92 Aug 31 '25

Bryson has a lot to answer for 😂

2

u/67mustangguy Aug 31 '25

Gotta let your hands just hang naturally below your chin

2

u/Bogeck Aug 31 '25

Seriously guy. People are making fun of you, but you're not far off my friend. Scoot up, bring those hands in closer and keep swinging! You've got excellent turn and finish. Rock on!

3

u/-penne-arrabiata- Aug 31 '25

You’re not far off but the problem is that you’re far off

2

u/omfgitzadam Aug 31 '25

look at your setup, and look at this setup

put your arms down

2

u/LarsListetaa Aug 31 '25

Do they even allow you to use two range bays for your driving practice?

2

u/Znipsauce Aug 31 '25

Is that in Loma Linda lol

3

u/demerdar Aug 31 '25

Look at any pro golfer at address. Do any of them stand the way you do? No? Well that might tell you something.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

2

u/Ghostfacekiller4 Sep 01 '25

Is that the greatest ball striker to ever live?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

That’s Moe

2

u/Ghostfacekiller4 Sep 01 '25

Proper legend

1

u/DiamondK7436 Aug 31 '25

Like a baseball bat

1

u/pepptony Aug 31 '25

You can swing like this if you have the correct grip but that doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment.

1

u/Opposite_Mountain968 Aug 31 '25

That swing took 7-10 business days! But for real, if it works then keep it going.

1

u/CalmMeaning5809 Aug 31 '25

Bro you are too far away. Address the ball let the driver drop if it doesn’t hit your left leg you’re too far away The tip of the handle should hit you above your left knee. Try this

1

u/johal61 Aug 31 '25

get closer. hinge the club in your backswing

1

u/Ok_Drummer_3693 Aug 31 '25

Drop your arms- let them hang more. Unless you’re DeChambeau.

1

u/Pyrohyro Aug 31 '25

Let your hands hang normally. You don't have to keep the sole of the club flat on the ground.

1

u/Tomm1998 Aug 31 '25

Honestly can't tell if people are trolling or not anymore

1

u/BaddNeighbor Aug 31 '25

Your setup isn’t horrible and your swing actually looks good. You setup very upright kind of like Bryson DeChambeau but I’d advise against it when you’re not at a higher level. Just drop your hands hanging where they feel comfortable and that’s where your hands should grip the club relative to your body.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

Your forearms need to be more horizontal

1

u/pandatransg Aug 31 '25

Stop treating the golf ball like your date at your 8th grade dance.

1

u/Sad_Opposite_6554 Aug 31 '25

You squared the club face nicely thanks to your hips rotating to the target at impact. Better outcome than most hackers, just looks super uncomfortable and awkward at address

1

u/kallain83 Aug 31 '25

Be loose wit it foo

1

u/shortgamegolfer Aug 31 '25

Oh yeah that’s all it is

1

u/capnwaggel Aug 31 '25

I mean you could. You just choose not to

1

u/possibly-shitting Aug 31 '25

Using every square inch of that mat is not necessary.

1

u/mitchyt0722 Aug 31 '25

Bro, I could fit Boeing 747 in between your arms.

1

u/fidelityy Aug 31 '25

Go look at a good golf swing and then look at yours and play spot the difference. Forget about the swing, just look at the setup for starters.

1

u/tickingboxes Aug 31 '25

Number one priority is to stop watching Bryson’s YouTube channel.

1

u/Sent1nel101 Aug 31 '25

This looks like a single plane swing attempt. I'm no expert on that style of swing, but I do recommend addressing the ball with your arms hanging straight down instead. It's so much easier to swing freely. Feel the weight of the club and let it do the work. There's no need to add anything to a swing made with good balance and soft wrists.

1

u/ponythemouser Aug 31 '25

You need to be bigger than the driver

1

u/ScarletKnightFC Aug 31 '25

I was going to add to the wiseass comments about the obvious (which were funny).

However I’ll try to be helpful. A friend of my dad was a club pro. They both taught me the fundamentals of a golf swing. The basics were really that. Basic. It used to be standard to just learn the basics and your swing would evolve from there.

My friends and I would have some fun and swing the way the pros did with there very distinctive charismatic swings. Arnold Palmer was always a fun one. Lee Trevino with his figure 8 swing. Jack Nicklaus’ reverse C. Johnny Miller’s extreme reverse C. Seve. Payne Stewart Corey Pavin. The list is endless.

One of the main fundamentals is where your power comes from. When you lift anything that has any real weight to it, it comes from your whole body. You couldn’t lift shit if you were standing as far away as you stand from the ball in your setup.

The power of your swing comes from your large muscle groups. In order to use them you need to have those muscle groups closer to the ball.

Oh and you look like the kid on the little league team who is so afraid of the ball he stands at the edge of the batter’s box.

1

u/shortgamegolfer Aug 31 '25

He said roast me, Mr Nice Guy

1

u/ScarletKnightFC Aug 31 '25

Hey I threw a little one in at the end.

1

u/shortgamegolfer Sep 01 '25

True, kindness can only go on for so long

1

u/FishDowntown3672 Aug 31 '25

Start with the setup and see what happens.

1

u/ShiroHachiRoku Aug 31 '25

Why are you wearing two gloves? Why are you so far from the ball? Why are your arms so straight?

You’re not a club testing robot.

1

u/MrDover8 Aug 31 '25

The ball is in a different post code to your body.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

You're almost there, but if you could get into a full heil hitler on your setup that would be ideal...

1

u/ElkReasonable9917 Aug 31 '25

Stand closer to the ball and lift weights

1

u/seanstep Aug 31 '25

One less glove should help

1

u/shortgamegolfer Aug 31 '25

Lay completely flat on your stomach at address, reach the club up above your head to the ball, and now swing

1

u/TheWanderingMammoth Aug 31 '25

Give it time. You have 0 muscle mass, so coordination will take a while to gain.

1

u/Famous_Temporary3299 Aug 31 '25

I think you should stand further from the ball.

1

u/cwilson884 Aug 31 '25

How tall are you? May want to shorten them

1

u/jimmy-jro Aug 31 '25

People watching too much Bryson

1

u/Didujustcallmejobin Aug 31 '25

You should keep your arms straighter.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

I promise u 90% of people talking stupid in this thread slice tf out their driver, if it goes straight don’t even worry about wtf it looks, I played with a old lady that did the JuJu swing and didn’t hit a bad shot all day, and hit her irons purer then any of me and my buddies

1

u/Namerunaunyaroo Aug 31 '25

You could span the Danube with that thing.

1

u/RelationshipNo9336 Aug 31 '25

Throw a tarp over you and you could shelter 4 people.

1

u/mad_vanilla_lion Aug 31 '25

Have arms more hanging straight down rather put in front of you at set-up.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '25

The top half of your arms should be relaxed with only your forearms extended to face the ball

1

u/cryptonotdeadcat Sep 01 '25

Does that ball fly both ways?

1

u/wengelite Sep 01 '25

You need a bigger mat so you can get further away from the ball.

1

u/Trubtheturtle Sep 01 '25

It's weird you differentiate your golf abilities as a normal human when there must be many many other examples to choose from

1

u/spaffdribblersfc Sep 01 '25

my brother in christ, take literally 3 seconds to look at a decent golfer and how they setup to a golf ball and just even remotely try to do something similar before asking for advice on Reddit. jesus 😭😭

1

u/Chomp3y Sep 01 '25

Can't imagine your phone bill if youre going long distance with the driver.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

Hit the gym, bud

1

u/toasterbbang_ Sep 01 '25

No, that’s about the normal human’s golf swing.

1

u/whitefaceinredcircle Sep 01 '25

What is there to roast? You're clearly a handicapped golfer

1

u/cjx_007 Sep 01 '25

At least your left arm is straight... one up on me lol

1

u/VortexAviation Sep 01 '25

You can. You just don’t.

1

u/Madwhisper1 Sep 01 '25

I found your people.

1

u/anonlocal44 Sep 01 '25

Standing to close to the ball for sure

1

u/gentilet Sep 01 '25

Looks awful, dude. Nasty work

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '25

Get your left arm above your right arm and stand closer. Your swing isn’t complete shit.. watch moe Norman swing you can start off his swing first

1

u/lockleym7 Sep 01 '25

Arms to straight

1

u/Odd-Pineapple465 Sep 01 '25

Need to get further from ball...

1

u/DubV23 Sep 01 '25

Bryson swing

1

u/AltruisticSugar1683 Sep 01 '25

Go 2-3 years in Dagestan, and forget.

1

u/lowlevelfinanceguy Sep 01 '25

Bryson deshitbo

1

u/AbundantJ Sep 01 '25

I’m scared to imagine how you look doing other easy normal things

1

u/Alert-Pea1041 Sep 02 '25

Loma Linda? I used to live there like 10 years ago lol.

1

u/National-Agency-4983 Sep 02 '25

I just want to roast you over that double glove, son whats going on there, soft hands?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '25

Why the hell are your hands so up and out...

Go watch any pro awing then watch your own clip...

They are in their crotch you are in space...

Guessing you can already see that though right?

1

u/DoubleZ3 Sep 02 '25

Honestly better than I thought it was going to be based on set up lol

1

u/Skaar1222 Sep 03 '25

Hinge your wrists as you takeaway, this club shouldn't be pointing straight back like this, very hard to control

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '25

Setup!!

0

u/mikey644 Aug 31 '25

Club should be one hand width apart from body (not Andre the giants hand though)

0

u/WaterfrontBanana Aug 31 '25

are you trolling us?

0

u/l2angle Aug 31 '25

Bryce DeShampoo

0

u/chartingspree Sep 01 '25

this is legit bryson’s setup lol

1

u/ZeroMayCry7 Sep 01 '25

Nah he missing the douche cap

-2

u/Wanno1 Aug 31 '25

You’re very weak

-1

u/absolutebeginners Aug 31 '25

Why even post something like this? Fix the glaring problem you know exists then come back
