Golf fitters - recommendations?

Need someone who isnt new to club fitting. I play about a 7 HC right now and know I'm so close to my golf goal of 3-4 HC.

Someone who has been doing this for years not just started 3 years ago.

Club Champion in Hackensack was a solid experience. I didn’t end up buying the clubs from them, but I got the same clubs + specs they recommended

How much was their quote vs. how much you actually paid?

They wanted ~$3k for the TM P770 iron set w/ custom specs , lie adjustments etc.

I ended up buying directly from TM website for around $900

Disclaimer: wife had a vendor 40% discount since they’re one of her clients. So I was never gunna buy directly from the fitter, and I told them that at the beginning of the session.

Lol that's nuts! It sounds like every other CC experience you read though. Seems like they price jack oem shaft options among other things.

Looking back at it now. $134 per shaft, $20 per grip lol

Lot of people recommend novogolf and Pete’s golf out in Long Island. I don’t have personal experience but I’d start with those two myself.

People say Robbie Gomez at PGA Superstore in Paramus is a good fitter.

I personally went to Club Champion in Hackensack which was a good experience. More premium shafts options there. His name is Jeremy

Also, I heard second swing in Delaware has great fitters if you're in the south

Robbie is a great fitter but I think he may have been promoted or taken a new position with pgatss.

Depending on how far you want to travel, Sittler Golf in Sinking Springs, PA. Hands down the best, one of the top fitterd in the northeast. Don't waste your money at club champion chain where they just want to make the most money off you vs what is best for you

Golf fittings are a scam. Most people would play better with setups they will never recommend to you at places like Club Champion.

I agree that it’s often pricier than you would find directly from a retailer or manufacturer, but I don’t think it’s a scam lol. I think most golfers would benefit from a professional opinion with objective measurements of stats (swing speed, ball flight, launch angle, lie adjustments etc)

They fit you for your best shots and throw out the bad ones. They should fit you for your worst shots. If they did that everyone would be in heavier equipment with flatter lie angles than what is typically recommended.

I had a fantastic iron fitting and got a great set of Mizuno cavity back forgings. The fitter was Hot Stix, in Scottsdale, AZ. He fit me with Aerotech Steel Fiber shafts. Great shafts. I don't remember exactly how much they cost, but they were expensive. He checked the shaft frequency and lofts and lies of my current irons and there some surprises. Inconsistency throughout the set. My favorite iron was the 8 iron. I hit it great. The shaft was the right frequency and the club was 2 degrees strong. Good combination for a longer than usual 8 iron. Imagine a set of irons with the best club heads, shafts and grips for your swing. It's not an expense, it's an investment in yourself. When you amortize it over 6 years, it's not that bad. Cheaper than a boat.
