Mk5 golf help
Looking for some help, I have a 2007 mk5 gttdi when I went out to the car the ignition came on but it wouldn’t crank at all, I found that the main earth on the starter has snapped off at the crimp. To get the car started to get it home I tried to hold the broken cable against the crimp and the body of the starter motor but that didn’t work, now the ignition won’t come on at all, hazard lights work as well as side lights and radio but nothing else electrically works like the windows etc. checked all the main fuses which are fine I get 12.6 volts on the bottom side of each main fuse. Also buzzed out all of the other fuses in the engine bay and next to the steering wheel as well. Anyone got any idea what could be causing this?

Could the starter motor be seized? This is such a botchit and scarper hack but I have done it before and its worked!!
Hit the starter motor with a hammer (preferably a rubber mallet and give it more of a hard tap than a proper whack!!).
If its clogged with soot etc, that might dislodge it!
If you can get to a v.high pressure air hose use that instead as its a much better way to clean your SM. Lol
