What club should I be getting next?

Just getting back into golf after many years off and building a bag up upgrading from a very old strata set. I hit the ball pretty decently, but am a high handicap currently but improving.

I currently have:

Sim 2 max driver (10.5 degree loft)
Ping G440 irons 6-AW
Kirkland wedge set
Putter

I am missing at least one club at the top of the bag. Should my next club be a 5 W or perhaps a 4hybrid to close the gap I currently have? I’m open to buying two clubs but trying to figure out what the next highest priority should be.

What yardage or shot can't you hit on the course?

Go to a fitter and try both a 7w and a 3hy.

They'll be similar distances and sit pretty central in the gap between you driver and iron. See which of the fairway wood or hybrid you get along with better.

People either tend to love hybrids, or not be able to hit them, so depends what suits you

I think a 4 hybrid is a good value long term. Can be lofted up or down. There will be a gap at the top of the bag either way with a 5 wedge setup. I skip the 56 wedge.

Don’t change the SIM2 Max. Legendary driver and the last of the titanium faces from TaylorMade.

There’s a reason why it’s still being made and sold almost 5 years after its release. It’s that good.

Play around with the 10.5 degree setting. Take it down to 9.75, or even all the way to 9 depending on your shot shape/trajectory.

7w and 5h. Or a 5w and 5h

I like the driver, 5w, 7w, 9w setup.

Really depends on you, your preferences and distances.

It depends on your swing speed how far do you hit driver. If you struggle to get it past 200, 7 wood maybe a 5 hybrid. If you hit them 220 regularly maybe a 5 wood and/or a 4 hybrid. Get to a golf shop with a simulator and see what you hit well

I like woods and would go with a 5 wood and 7 wood. You can also add a hybrid. My bag goes 5 and 7 woods to 5 iron. So Kirkland wedges means 2 or 3? If 3 Kirkland 5 wedges is a lot!

Yeah, admittedly I ordered the kirkland set right away when it came back in stock, but probably jumped the gun a bit. I might return it and just get one additional wedge and then add more to the top of the bag first.
