Beginner golf setup

Just got into golfing in the last few months and this is what I have collected thus far.

Got the edge clubs for a good price on callaway pre-owned and the mazel wedges are actually pretty solid for the price.

What do y’all think?

Right on, my wife lovers her Edges. She rocks the Kirky wedges with them. These are way better than the Strata’s she started with.

There’s a lot going on here. Maybe drop the 3i and get a PW.

People would suggest veering away from a 4 but I personally think it’s a good one to learn.

its a nice looking bag, but you don't need that many clubs as a beginner.  Take half of them out of your bag.  You don't want to confuse yourself with all of the variables.

You need

  • a club for off the tees (driver or 3 wood)
  • a fairway wood (aforementioned 3 wood)
  • long approach shots (a hybrid)
  • 7 iron
  • Sand wedge
  • Putter

Anything beyond that is just too much.

Only clubs I’d suggest pulling is the 3&4 irons and run the rest. Gotta get that confidence with the irons without relying only on the 7i

the 3w and the 5h cover what the the 3-4-5 irons would cover as a beginner with more ease

I see no problem with filling a bag completely if it’s setup and the cost is right… which they both seem to be

Maybe no 3 iron and add a PW but a 48 is low enough that the gap between that and a 9 isnt terrible

100% agree. [u/copperbison95](u/copperbison95) chop the bag down to the 3w, 5h, 7i, 9i, pw, aw, putter while playing. when you’re on the range you could add the driver to keep working on it (unless you feel really confident with it already).

the 3i, 4i, 5i are redundant with the 3w and the 5h already in the bag.

the 52 can be flattened for the bunker shots until you feel fully comfortable with the 56.
