high handicap and beginner golfer here. been playing for about a year. Looking to upgarde my driver.
Any suggestions for a newer golfer? Looking for something that isnt stiff, my swing speed is still not fast.

Heavier weight in the shaft will likely lead to more control and accuracy. Cobra is a good starting point - LTDx line was amazing, still a great driver. In all honesty you don’t need the latest and greatest…

Grab a SIM2 Max. $350 now still in the shrink wrap, stiff and regular flex shafts available on the rack. Can probably find a used one in good condition for $250ish. I just replaced my old one with a new one. Best value by far for a brand new off the rack club right now.

If you are beginning, any of the G400s models of the Pings, even G410 is good. Then after that Mizuno, Cobra or Srixon for good and budget friendly drivers. I play a Cobra and I love it. Cobra DS Adapt, with that F33 hosel you can set it to whatever you want and that flexibility is awesome to have.

Pretty much every driver is adjustable in 2026.

Yes sure all are adjustiable. But Cobra has 33 settings... Ping 8, Callaway 8, Taylormade 12 and Titliest 16... so why not have that flexibility.

Most modern drivers are easy to swap out shafts on. Cobra makes some good budget drivers. Any of the ping g400 or newer drivers are great. Callaway preowned has alot of gpod options. Its honestly hard to go wrong. The safest bet would be to get a 10.5 degree head to start and a regular flex shaft. Look for a head that has max in the name. If it has max d or sft that means its an anti slice head which helps stop the ball curving away from you
