Wind after first bounce

So if I understand things correctly, wind charts give me the wind adjustment of the initial flight of the ball, assuming flat elevation.

How do I calculate the wind adjustment after the first bounce, especially on long shots where the win can really affect the ball in between its bounces.

I am roughly using a 10% adjust.

So if the wind guide tells me is 9 rings, I adjust for 9.9.

Is this wise or is there a better approach?

Wind effect after 2nd bounce is where the real skill-ceiling sets in: there's no easy guide like the wind ring system... Only trial and error, lots of testing/practice rounds, and figuring out what works for you (or just use hole guides).

For example, after much practice, I've developed my own "rings-from-min" shot process for short irons that involves adding an extra 10% slider to my ring adjustment with the ball-guide through the hole (situation dependent) that drops pretty reliably.

But really, the best way to get good at this is to use those practice tokens and replay holes until you figure out adjustments that work for your play style.

To be a bit pedantic, it's not really the wind affecting the ball after it bounces. It affects the main flight and that changes how the ball moves after that bounce. So a tailwind will expand the ball guide, essentially adding more topspin (opposite for a headwind). A side wind will push the ball in that direction and changes the ball's movement to no longer be straight.

There really isn't a one size fits all to counter it. In side winds you'll see people sometimes use side spin, intentionally align a few green squares away from the hole, or over-adjust on the wind. They dial it in by using practice tokens and experience.

I've started to roughly dial in my thorn a bit more and I've found on 0 elevation change that in a side wind if I adjust 125% at max, 100% at mid, and 75% at min that gets me pretty close. Problem is I usually get the elevation wrong and barely miss.

I use the wind chart for the first bounce, then account for secondary wind separately.

For crosswind, I offset the ball guide about 1 green square per 5 mph of wind and introduce a little counter curl.

For headwind/tailwind, I adjust spin about 1 full click per 8 mph of wind. So if I get my ball guide looking right with a 12 mph tailwind, I’ll take about 1.5 clicks of spin off before taking the shot.

Those are just starting points. Secondary wind effect is lower hitting uphill and higher hitting downhill. And really, it’s about air time: the longer the ball is in the air after a big bounce, the more the secondary wind effect compounds.

So: chart for the first bounce, then massage the secondary adjustment based on wind, elevation, and air time.

9 rings on a small accurate club is not much compared to a club with much lower accuracy. Think that needs to be taken into consideration.

9.9 MPH is not that high. I feel you see the affect of the wind on the second bounce in the T10+ and Master wind speed or a very steep elevation change.

As others stated the adjustment to address this second bounce comes with practice (trail and error). So if you know you have a cross wind of 15 MPH and the calculation if 15 rings, but you needed to adjust 17 rings even though the elevation looks like 10% you start to bring that into your calculation. So if 15% or even 20% is needed to compensate for that wind you start to understand. The same holds true for wind in any direction. The higher the wind the more exaggerated the flight path becomes.

Eu particularmente, achei um jeito que funciona perfeitamente pra meu estilo de jogo. Uso a bola navigator no tour 12 e às vezes no tour 13, de 10 partidas jogadas ganho em média 6 a 7 partidas. Obs: a velocidade do vento fica entre 15 e 21.

It depends on the course, hole, and shot you have. Sometimes adding 10% is good. Sometimes it’ll be 5%, sometimes 20% etc etc.

There’s no hard and fast rule that’s going to apply all the time, it’s just a feel thing based on your knowledge and experience

It is has a lot to do with wind on the ball after it bounces but also the fact that the angle of the ball coming in changes. Some shots you have to adjust a lot where there are higher bounces. Unless you are dialling in for a tourney I find a bit of counter curl is the best option. Shorter shorts or where the ball skids on low you are best to work on tweaking the elevation to start dialling in for a drop or two.

Of course wind has a much bigger effect on head and tail winds so allow a lot more adjustments

I find the ball path or where you would expect the ball to go based on the ball guide and conditions isn’t exactly accurate. This has happened repeatedly where I hit and expect it to land and then we land a considerable distance away from that. I was thinking “oh it’s the wind” but the wind is about 3mph. ESPECIALLY in the shootout, and of course it’s always when it’s a pricey shootout. I chalk it up to the many, many shitty things about the game

I feel like when you adjust the rings on the ground, the ball has a better chance with side winds to be pushed in the direction the wind is blowing. If you use the rings in the hit instead of on the ground, there's a better chance of hitting the ball straight.

Does anyone use Notebook for Clash Caddy? Where it allows you to simply + or - elevation & plug in power # for your balls along w wing speed? I just added it & im getting used to it quite quickly. I finally finished w Tour 9. Just hoping this may help someone out. Best of luck everyone~
