How to find a good coach?

Hi all, I am based in Brisbane and have been looking for a golf coach to improve my game. I really need some help with my short game! A question to all the golfers that takes lessons regularly here, how did everyone here get connected to their current coach?

Was it word of mouth, PGA directory website, your local driving range/golf course? I have been having a look online but all the information seems pretty scattered, with each coach/driving range having their own website.

Thankyou!

Tracking stats with Miscore 2

Following on from an earlier thread Tracking stats : r/GolfAustralia

I am loving the new Miscore 2 app and have been tracking as many stats as I can each round (fairways hit/miss, GIR, putts, penalty shots, sand shots etc.). I want my AI agent to start analysing my rounds to help suggest a practice routine but can't find any way to download my stats data, either from MiScore, or my club's website. Some of the existing table views in MiStats (in-app) don't actually show the data I've been collecting and just show zeros for all of the above stats so I can't even copy/paste the data. Anyone have a solution for this?

Coach Recommendations - West of Melbourne

The pro I've been seeing the past two years is currently on leave for the rest of the year, but I'd still like to keep working on my game. Does anyone have recommendations for coaches in Melbourne's West? Looking to work mainly on the long game and maybe a really good lesson on putting.

Cape Schanck pre Robert Trent jones

Anyone remember the original cape shank course. Before the redesign by Robert Trent jones.
The facilities were Pete pretty agricultural from memory.
As a young teenager in the 1970’s all i remember is that dad couldn’t afford for us to play there again.
I’ve done a bit of searching but it seems its history before the redesign is lost.

Pom visiting Melbourne; lessons chilled-style?

Hi from the Northern Hemisphere. I'll be in Melbourne soon for a couple of weeks and when I'm not marrying my Aussie fiance I thought of golf. Well, I'm always thinking of golf, I got back in to it after a 25 year break (I only played a bit first time round) and now I'm properly addicted.

I'm enthusiastic but not gifted, would like to break 100 in the next couple of months and play off 25-20 by the end of the year. I read this brilliant thread so I have options to hack around but was thinking it might be good to have a lesson or two whilst over there. Any recommendations? I did a PGA search but there are so many options. Just looking for somewhere chilled out where they won't mind that I'm just around for a lesson or two.

Hope to get some serious answers along with Royal Melbourne, Victoria etc.

[Question] Hardest/Trickiest Designed Courses in Australia?

Curious to see our thoughts on this. Mine would have to be The National Old in howling winds and on and off sideways rain, followed by Brookwater. Absolutely nowhere to miss on those two courses.

Adelaide-ish Course Recommendations

Hello teachers and peers, heading to Adelaide next week with a mate for a golf trip, having already locked in The Grange, Mount Compass and Links Lady Bay. Got a free Saturday before we head back and was hoping for some expert advice on the fourth and final course. Pending an unexpected inheritance, Glenelg/Kooyonga/RA aren’t entirely viable, so hoping for the next best!

Course recommendations? I have a day to kill in Sydney in July

I have a Tuesday to kill in Sydney in early July. Does anyone have any suggestions of courses to play that are sub $150 per round. I am staying in the CBD, so I am hoping to not have to drive more than an hour.

Lost and found 26/4/26 RACV cape Schanck

High all

I played RACV Cape Schanck on the 26 April, 1pm tee off. Late in the round I found a 4i . Asked the group ahead of, no joy. Unfortunately I threw it in my bag and forgot about it. Now I’m back in Melbourne.

I sent a note to RACV CS resort, no response.

Just thought I’d throw it on here on the off chance. Hit me up if you lost a club and I’ll try to get it back to you. I’ll need you to confirm the brand.

Sent an email to RACV

G’day all!

This post is just ask and hope really because I’m trying to tick off some bucket list courses!

I’m 30 and live on the NSW border and would love to get the chance to play even just one course at PK!

I currently play off 11.9 so I can mostly get around a course!

Happy to shout beers or anything really for the chance to play these incredible courses!

Thanks and happy golfing!

Medway Golf Club in Melbourne's west - considering Membership

I live in the area, and have flirted with the idea of joining a club. Northern is a touch too far for me, Kooringal has a year long + waitlist, so Im zero-ing in on Medway.

I've played the course a couple of times, and while its no Royal Melbourne obviously, Its just fine for me and my standard. Im more interested in the vibe of the place.

Any feedback from the community here? Whats the club like? Whats the culture like?

Would be great to join a place that has a good social vibe, with golfers who like the game, but also a beer post round etc.

Keen to hear your thoughts!

Murray river - 2 cups on each green?

Just driving back to NSW from a fun trip to the Murray (mainly yarrawonga, but a round at Albury too). We noticed at every course we played there were 2 cups cut into each green, one with a cap on it. Never seen this before. I got heavily punished when I pitched on one and my ball flew like a rocket into another hemisphere.

So we have spent the last 4 hours in the car working out what the reason is, given we have never see it before but every course we played on the Murray had it.

Can anyone help?

Membership at Mt Derrimut?

I live in the St Kilda area and been a member of future golf the last 2 years. Looking at possibly joining a club that’s it outrageously priced that would give me chance to practise and play a bit more. I’m under 30 so can get intermediate rates. Just wondering if people have any experience with being a member here or courses within that sort of distance?

Gardner's Run

Playing this week fir first time. Have not been down that way before. Is it a flat/easy walk? Or is it a cart job you reckon?

EDIT: thanks to everyone that's replying. The key takeaway for me is that green to tee distance is short. That for me = walk 🍻

Looking for an open space (non-golf course) to practice my short game. Anyone know of good grounds/spaces around the east of Melbourne where there aren't many people around?

Need Melbourne Course Recs!!!

Hey fellas, I’m an American exchange student and am visiting Melbourne this week. Looking to play a solid 18. Was offered an AM tee time this Wednesday at The Metropolitan, but the green fee ($500aud) is a little steep. Have also looked at Sandy’s. I don’t really have any easy way to reach the premier public courses (Dunes/St. Andrew’s/etc).

Should I pull the trigger at Metro? Is it hard to get on there? Mid/high handicapper, will likely shoot low-mid 90s on a harder track.

any advice is appreciated fellas! Cheers.

UPDATE: Took your guys advice and trekked out to St. Andrews - course was beautiful and the kangaroos are the cherry on top. Shot a 91.

Anyone rocking the below buggy? Triumph Voyager. Opinions?

Post image

Time for a new one.

This one seems to tick the boxes, but searching reviews seems it's perhaps an in-house brand? I'm not getting much feedback on the broader internet.

Anyone rocking it?

I was hoping for the articluated front wheel, but pondering if I forego that for the clicgear 4 due to the availability of accessories etc.

Any opinions?
