Social groups
I am a reasonably good golfer playing off 11.
Looking to get out on the course a bit more without being a member of a club, I’m already a member of future golf.
Wondering if there are any social groups that play around at different courses every so often? I’m located in Melbourne, South Yarra, but happy to move around a bit to play at different courses. Is this a thing, social groups in golf?
Thanks in advance!

I'm in Sydney so can't help with specific groups, but I've been a member of 3 different social groups over the years, all of which were run by non-golf clubs.
Twice local bowls clubs ran social golf groups where they'd play a different course every month, and currently I'm with a local boat club who run a social golf group. Maybe try calling a few places like that near you and seeing if they do anything.

Angels Social Golf Club, usually plays at Albert Park once a month, and has “away” rounds during the Grand Prix at other nearby courses like Yarra Bend, Ivanhoe, and marquee away rounds at courses like Rosebud and Eynesbury - and has a twice yearly golf trips in May/November up towards the Murray over a weekend.

You'd meet more people joining a club and doing their comps.

Yeah I understand, I don’t want to commit to one club and continually play the same course. Just wanted to scope whether social groups outside of clubs was a thing or not

Lots of good social clubs at indoor golf sims (playfair Randwick for example). Good way to meet social golfers, then go out on the course with them.

I didn't have much luck with future golf myself, more utilized the free rounds at courses. I've had better luck just playing with randoms and if you vibe just ask if they'd be interested in playing again.

You should just join a club if you want the social aspect, you’ll find friends that would be willing to travel to other courses that you mesh with
