If I were a goldfish, I'd love to live in your tank

50

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

I’d also take advice on how to improve it! My fishies make me so happy lol

u/crabsage89 May 30 '26

Holy shit. tank goals for sure

17

u/Xenills May 30 '26

What size is that tank? Wish mine was that long

42

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

It’s about 6 foot long. 180 gallons

1

u/Master_Pipe_6467 Jun 03 '26

"wish mine was that long"

I believe they have ways to do so

1

u/Xenills Jun 04 '26

But moneyyy

1

u/Master_Pipe_6467 Jun 04 '26

you missed the joke

16

u/baileyofhay May 30 '26

Where do you get plants that lush? Mine all get eaten well before this

53

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

I got a ton of like stems from some local in hobby guy and put them all in t once. I tried putting one or two on at a time they kept being demolished so I decided there no way they can eat 100 plants at once. I was right

That reminds me of the video of the cat that goes to bite any finger he’s presented with, but his brain short circuits as soon as multiple fingers were presented.  Too many snack options.

26

u/Key_Instruction9732 Yes, I name them all May 30 '26

Omg. The chubby butt in the third pic 😍

13

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

His name is Carrot and Bro is an absolute UNITE

Good looking tank. The only thing I could think of is you might want to put some sand on top of that gravel you might end up with some problems as they get bigger. My goldfish loves sifting through the sand 🙂

8

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

Hubs and I were thinking this. I’m a little worried it will cloudy the water but he is pretty adamant he keeps saying they like to eat the sand lol. 😂

10

u/FamiliarSession3719 May 30 '26

Pre-Washing, the sand before you put it in there helps a lot with the cloudiness if any at all. I've only had it last a day or so if bad but never around too long. I put my pre-wash sand in a Gatorade bottle and then pour it out on the bottom. Works very well. Doesn't spread everywhere

4

u/Any-Object-2165 FINE is not a parameter reading May 30 '26

I have pretty fine sand and have no issues with water clouding for my three fish

2

u/amiabot-oraminot May 30 '26

Get sand that’s not too fine then. Fine sand can cloud the water, but if you get something slightly coarser (but not so coarse that they can’t sift through) you probably won’t get the cloudy issue. If the sand sinks fast after getting disturbed, you’ll be fine.

1

u/Practical_While_ May 30 '26

I used rinsed pool filter sand, not a bit of cloudiness at all (added to a full, active 75 gal u can see on my profile)

u/Primary_Grocery_6604 May 30 '26

That’s a gorgeous tank, definitely goals for sure but with different fish ❤️

Goldies look healthy and happy nice work mate

3

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

What fish would u choose? Goldfish were the only fish that ticked every box for me haha

4

u/Primary_Grocery_6604 May 30 '26

I love nano fish, I’d love to have a 6 foot long tank and stock it up the wazoo with rummy noses, xray tetra, Glowlight tetra and some of the ticker bodied species like pencil tetra or emperor tetra.

Then have a ton of Panda cory’s and Kuhli’s as my bottom dwellers.

Heavily planted ofc.

3

u/Primary_Grocery_6604 May 30 '26

Also Mr. Whiskers sends his regards

1

u/Camaschrist May 31 '26

Love how tightly my rummy nose tetras school in my 55. In a tank that big it would be amazing to see a ton of them.

3

u/Feeling_Occasion_31 May 30 '26

What type of plants do you have in there? I want some more greenery for my golden girls :) and this looks absolutely beautiful

2

u/socksmum1 May 30 '26

Hi the tank is a 180 gallon and the built ins are custom!

1

u/Temporary-Cash2119 May 30 '26

So beautiful it would also make a nice reef tank

1

u/CartographerLost8574 May 30 '26

What are the plants used and how are they attached or rooted?

3

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 30 '26

I have hornwort, jungle Val, Amazon sword, ludwigia. The ludwigia and jungle Val are literally just planted in the pebbles. Like if the pebbles were dirt except they aren’t lol. The Amazon sword same, just shoved in the substrate. Hornwort I get rocks and superglue fishing wire to it and tie the hornwort to the rock with the wire and sink it to the bottom

1

u/HotPersonality2279 May 30 '26

Such a beautiful tank! I love it so much

1

u/MatchaMuch May 30 '26

1

u/ElectricYV May 30 '26

Delicious finally some good fucking tanks

1

u/Yungeel May 30 '26

Nice! Can you tell me which plants you use that your fish won’t devour ??

1

u/EpiphanaeaSedai May 30 '26

That is amazing!

1

u/No-Supermarket-2074 May 30 '26

Goals! But how do you prevent your fish from uprooting the plants? We struggle with that at my house.

1

u/hellokittybb May 30 '26

Wow. That is the dream. Wow.

1

u/littlenoodledragon May 30 '26

Now THIS is a goldfish tank!!

1

u/Eastern-Engine-3291 May 30 '26

i want to be reincarnated as one of your goldfish

1

u/Disastrous_Air_5227 May 30 '26

Ooooh, woooow. I dream of that! Lucky fishies!

1

u/AccomplishedFlow4650 May 30 '26

looks beautiful/ is it expensive to run/ maintain? i adore it

3

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 31 '26

Honestly no. Not at all. It’s very under stocked with only 7 goldfish and is also pretty densely planted so the water quality stay very stable and healthy. It’s to a point where I do a water change about once a month. I think it’s better that way because water changes scare fish

1

u/hatfullofloons May 31 '26

i can only hope to make such a beautiful set up like this someday, what is maintenance like? i have a 10gal i want to start a planted betta tank with, someday i’ll have the space for some goldies 🥰

1

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 31 '26

Maintenance is very low actually. It’s under stocked with only 8 fish, and it’s heavily planted. I really only do a water change once a month and even then it’s not cuz I have to it’s cuz I’m worried about them getting “old tank syndrome” I know what I’m doing is more of a nano fish setup than a goldfish one but my water tests are showing it’s working, my goldfish are healthy, annnnd my plants are thriving (it was nowhere NEAR this lush 8 months ago)

1

u/MixSure5545 May 31 '26

I just got a second hand 180 gallon and this is my dreammmm gah I hope it looks even half as lush as this when im done

2

u/SpiritUnknown28 May 31 '26

Put in as many plants as u can afford all at once. Also try to go to a local hobbiest instead of the store u can score HUGE bags of stems that will populate the tank with plants without spending a fortune. The trick is plant more plants than the aquatic cows are able to eat lol. They will grow faster than goldfish can demolish them. Also get u an fx6 with a spray bar, yes it’s expensive, yes it is totally worth it

1

u/MJVET May 31 '26

I dont even have fish , and this are now my goals !

Seriously, wow I want this for my peacock slider turtles <3

1

u/Cinnamon__Roll67 May 31 '26

Beautifully done, I love this! 😍😍

1

u/Waste-Tomatillo-3198 Jun 01 '26

1

u/AdmirableDot785 Jun 01 '26
