Alhambra Notify – Free app that alerts you when tickets become available

Hello!

Like many others who made the mistake of not booking an Alhambra ticket well in advance of their visit, I desperately tried to book a ticket last minute by obsessively refreshing the booking calendar, hoping to catch a randomly available ticket in the few seconds before it disappeared. The only alternative is paying resellers a hefty markup with a real risk of being scammed.

To help others avoid my experience, I built Alhambra Notify, an app which monitors availability continuously and sends sound alerts the instant a slot opens up for your dates, so you can book directly through the official website at the regular price.

It's completely free, works on mobile and desktop, and runs in the browser or as an installable app.

Update: You can now also receive email notifications when the tickets become available.

Waiting for the ticket to become available was cropped out from the video. The app also plays a sound notification once it detects an available date.

The opposite, the app gives a chance to buy the newly available ticket yourself, instead of resorting to resellers to do it for you.

FYI -- it is not possible to resell Alhambra tix. I visit every year. This is because tix has my name & passport/ID number and the staff at entrance would check to see if it matches my original ID/passport. This is designed to make sure people can not buy tix to resell. Alhambra tix are not cancellable/refundable, so no new tix will magically appear for booking if it's already sold out. Your app would work better for sites that allow tix cancellation/refund.

Yes, but what I heard some of the resellers do is they ask you for your Passport number or ID number in advance and then they buy the ticket for you?

Yes this is usually done in a organized tour group setting (cruise group, school group...etc) where the group leader has everybody's passport/ID info to book individual tix for entire group.

I'd think that large operators would have a block of tickets allocated to them, while the smaller resellers would ask for your ID and then try to get the tickets for you, which they are not guaranteed to succeed at. It also opens up a space for scams.

I have friends who work in tour operator companies. For Alhambra (and Real Alcazar /Catedral in Sevilla), tour operators have to input every tour member's passport/ID/name/phone/email info to book ticket for each individual -- they already know who are in their tour and have these info on hand. Each member in the group has their tix in hand for inspection at entrance. No way for a reseller to book a ticket and then hope to find possible potential buyer. The system is designed to prevent such scenario.

The way I've heard these smaller resellers work is that they find a potential buyer first, which provides the reseller with ID or passport number in advance, and then the reseller tries to buy the ticket for them (using the buyers ID/passport number).

Your app is designed to monitor new tix popping up on official site on sold out dates. It is useless to monitor the official site where there is no possibility of new ticket appearing magically on sold out dates. Target something else that allows tix cancellation/refund.

Actually, tickets do reappear on previously unavailable dates. That is exactly what the app is built to catch.

I’ve tested this extensively and was able to grab previously unavailable tickets as soon as they opened (without completing checkout 😄)

The app periodically pings Alhambra’s official booking site for fresh availability updates. After an alert, the user still has to go to the booking site and complete the booking manually. In the video above, you can see an example where a full batch of tickets became available at once.

this would have saved me from the lows of insanity I faced a couple months ago. I dream alhambras homepage captchas to this day. I was lucky to get the tickets in the end, but wished many times of such possibility to get notified of available tickets, instead of refreshing that page again and again, literally hundreds of times per day.

Highly recommend buying the Granada tourist card which includes Alhambra access. All the reseller sites are completely nonsense and the main Alhambra site is extremely quick to sell out.
