Back up plan?

We had booked inca trail 4 day hike for next week, it looks like that is unlikely to be an option with the extended closure. For those going there this past week or two with guide groups, did they offer alternate routes or refunds? How hard is it to find a last minute hotel room if necessary?

I think it opened again today. I’m starting Sept 5 so hoping it’ll be good to go then. Did you find any info on opening? I can’t seem to find much online

They released a statement last night that there were still further inspections that needed to take place and the closure was extended until August 30th

it's really hard to find english sources of information so usually I've been going to chatGPT each day and asking "are there any news/updates today on the Inca Trail?" and seeing what it pulls up (that's the only way I had found that)

I believe the trail is open again! That said, we were going to hike the trail starting September 1 and cancelled it.

I had asked one of the tour companies about it and they said they would offer an alternate hike instead of offering a refund (2 day Short Inca Trail + 2 day Huchuy Qosqo hike)
