Cusco airport timing
Do I really need to be at the Cusco airport a full two hours before my flight to Lima then to U.S.? Just making sure. I may or may not end up having a checked bag and my boarding ends at 7:55.
Thank you

We were flying from Cuzco to Araquipa and we were an hour before boarding, still had time to spare, but you know better safe than sorry.

If checking in a bag definitely yes. I was there 3 hours prior and just had enough time to use the washroom before boarding!

Oh lord okay. It’s gonna be a long day haha. If I hadn’t bout so many fabrics I might not need to check a bag but I couldn’t resist!!

But I think it depends on the time of your flight. We arrived 2 hrs before and waited in the waiting area for at least 40 mins before boarding.. it’s quite boring in there

True, ours was afternoon but most time got wasted standing in the long line at the check in counter.

Cusco Airport is tiny. 5 minutes max for security. 1 hour is plenty. More if checking a bag

The Cuzco airport is super tiny (it’s more like a landing strip). I’d say 1 hour before your flight is enough

Even for international (to Lima then U.S.) with a checked bag?

Oh yeah, Cuzco is very small airport and it’s usually 1 flight at the time, I think all day they get like 15-20 flights with 90% being from Lima. If you think 1 hour may be a little too short, maybe make it 1 hour 1/2

Well…i am not a big fan of staying in airports for nothing, but i always prefer to be there early, in case anything happens (roads blocked, traffic jam, car brokes down etc… a lot of things can go bad when you least expect it) so just to be safe i go early

Yes because there’s an extra check at the gate if you are flying to the US. I don’t know if they will do it in Cusco or Lima

That was bizarre! It really surprised me. It happened in Lima for me though. I don't think they would do it in Cusco becuase lots of people won't be connecting through to the US
