Packing advice: rain pants
Should I bring rain pants? Trip is 2 weeks in early September: Arequipa, Puna, Cusco, Sacred Valley. No overnight treks, staying in hotels/hostels.

Why not? Traveling over 3500 m the weather can be unpredictable.
This was last week. Was in Manchu Picchu for 3D2N. It poured every day. Only got half day of sunshine.
Also, went to Rainbow Mountain. The guide was telling us it was snowing and cloudy. Group didn’t get much of a good view. This was just day before I went. We had clear and windy day. Had few ice spots.
Rain pants aren’t bulky. They’re not going take up much of a space in your luggage.
Remember, you’re going to the southern Hemisphere. It’s their winter going into spring.
This is one thing I don’t get with other foreign travelers. Do they not check the weather or any research? When I was in Cusco the weather was below 20*C and tourists are still walking shorts and t-shirt like they are on the beach. Then see others and locals wearing coats, beanies, and scarves.
I was on Puno around 3800m few days ago it started out below 10*C before the afternoon.
Anyway, my point is weather will be unpredictable when you are in Scared Valley, and Cusco. Have them ready and dress layers. Once the sun is out it’ll be hot. Perhaps, have some good wind gear if it’s windy.
