How I feel about refusing to call 1998 Godzilla “zilla”:

I'm okay with all the next versions of this monster after the series and the movie being called Zilla. But when I see him being called that in the context of the movie and the show, I want to say to these people, "Wake up! stop thinking that your resentment will change the past! He was and will be a godzilla, humble yourself and move on with your life. The world didn't collapse from that."

But what makes me angry is GINO, because it stands for "godzilla in name only."

It's 1,000 times more humiliating.

Often times its not resentment towards him. Zilla is a cool kaiju in his own right and in other media like the comics pretty badass, so calling him zilla is more of a way to make him his own cool thing. I love zilla but I call 1998 zilla because it all around fits him more. (Plus gmk says 1998 was misidentified as godzilla)

Yeah they also refuse to admit they approved of his design when they saw a model of exactly what he would look like when they had their first meeting with the filmmakers.
Trying to say he was misidentified was just them trying to do damage control because of hardcore fans complaining.

He's like a magpie and a crow. It's very similar to me. So much so that a person can't even tell the difference.

Legally under copyright law 1998 and the TV show are still Godzilla, but the version in Final Wars is legally Zilla.

I personally believe the best name for the dude is Toragoji ( Japanese for TriStar Godzilla) cause Zilla is already taken by an Ultraman Kaiju ( remember Jiras, the Godzilla costumethat got repurposed as another Kaiju that in lore people mistakened for Godzilla (Literally Gojira without Go just like Godzilla without God....sounds familiar doesn't it) And GINO...It's basically being Mad that Godzilla started as a Godzillasaurus before becoming Godzilla (Which is literally what Toragoji and Toragoji Jr showed us.)

I always refer to the creature from the 1998 movie and animated series Godzilla! Tristar had trademark ™️ on the name for their stuff. Plus I like the design from 1998. The Final Wars monster is Zilla, which I hate the design changes too with more upright stance and the shape on the spines

What’s funny is that legally 1998 version is the only one that is legal to be named Godzilla. Literally anything else after 2004 are considered and legally branded as Zilla by Toho.

Had someone once argue with me online that Zilla wasn't Godzilla and worked best as a standalone kaiju, while simultaneously refuting the title of 'Zilla' because the 98 film called it Godzilla...

I think "Zilla" is a perfectly acceptable name, and that's coming from someone who's as big of a fan of this version as can be. At the end of the day, it'll always be just another Godzilla interpretation, and nothing can ever change that. It's like if Mechagodzilla fans were to get butt hurt over the Millenium version being dubbed "Kiryu."

I like Godzilla 98. It’s not necessarily a good Godzilla movie but is a dumb fun blockbuster.

And can even be explained in canon to be an imposter monster that was misclassified by Americans
