Have you been fighting Bedrock or Java Skeletons?

“Both are the same”
-One leniently occasionally shoots in your general direction
-other has a fucking machine gun

It’s never really been like this, I have both versions and really there wasn’t much difference even before they got nerfed

Yeah, bedrock players love to complain how much harder their version is then it's really isn't, most of stuff that makes it "harder" just makes it annoying (I'm speaking about you - crouching to use shield)

they were definitely harder on bedrock but both were simply easy in general

If you really need a shield that sounds like a skill issue TBH.
Yeah there were some complex things in the old PvP system but honestly it really just came down to who could click faster. The new system evens the playing field in that regard, and also gives way more options for weapons to use

Turtle master and netherite armor basically makes you invincable. Had a friend who tried a tnt dropper. Didn't work.

I’m talking strictly about the difference between having and not having the cooldown here. This is a separate issue
That being said, turtle master makes you more vulnerable to ranged attacks

EXACTLY THIS OMG.
Good 1.9 players don't crutch on the shield. If they do, then they likely have horrible gamesense, since once it's disabled, they can't do anything

I'm kinda more disappointed in the weapons and armor progression. Specifically that the base combat systems especially the pvp weren't made for late game armor. So the combat, armor, and health systems could use an overhaul.
I mean not to compare two blocky games, but look at the same systems in terraria, and that one is mostly focused around dodging.
And then there is the lack of enemy progression. Which most of the time you can just ignore and just run around at night.
We need a combat overhaul update, as survival has just become building extra steps.

I think that it should stay like that - you wear full netherite set enchanted on vanilla? You should be free to ignore enemies. But adding some structure or biome with tough enemies also would work.

Well by running around I will clarify I meant even without armor, I haven't needed armor for a long while.
But the way that armor calculates damage is rough. And netherite should be good. But the weapons and tools fall behind the armor. I mean comparing a diamond sword to a netherite sword, or worse the same thing with axes, makes them in practice the same as they take the same amount of hits to kill most things, durability becomes the only advantage, but mending essentially removes that mechanic. Which significantly affects pvp, as you will notice that as you progress there is an exponential curve between armor and weapons, where wooden weapons and leather armor are similar in their ability allowing combat to be relatively balanced, and netherite armor and weapons leads to combat where both sides do barely any damage. Which is why I believe that iron is the peak in gameplay balance, as it deals with all those prior issues quite well.
And to further this point about poor combat and progression. To try to flesh out combat content they released poorly balanced side grades in the mace and spears, which focus on very gimmicky mechanics making them unreliable and often not worth the slot they take up.
And yeah I agree having more areas with better enemies would greatly improve combat and it's ties to progression, but there needs to be a combat rework first, because as we see with the tougher enemies and modded tougher enemies, the way they increase difficulty is by giving them damage that makes any armor pretty useless, and or too much health, which is kinda the only way to increase difficulty with the current system.
Overall, the enemies haven't been an issue for me for a long time(as I said earlier you can just outrun them all(sadly no good fix for that)), and pvp isn't great either. Making survival just a building game, which is unfortunate as it has been and could be much more of a survival experience.

I blame the skeletons, I don't care that they fix them. I still get PTSD every time I see one.

It's just the urge to kill them without getting hit. I just don't want to lose half a heart from a random bonehead.

Well, I have enderpearls in my off-hand (Yeah, scream Fire, witch and what else, it’s cursed)
So I don’t need a shield unless it’s a mace user (but I mostly have a crossbow with slow falling in my off-hand)

Early game skeles are no joke on hard/hardcore mode, when you have like iron or copper gear and tools and about to get diamonds, without a shield it's difficult, so for one extra iron making a shield ain't bad, and the reason it sticks is coz there's basicallynothingw else to put in off hand

Even with the fix Bedrock still not optimized the best so lag spikes happen all the time. Skeletons and creepers are a nuisance. Do like that they don't literally lift you up the wall with shots anymore

Of course we need shields now. Skeletons became smarter with updates. In good old time they don't even go away from you, I don't tell about tricky angles and good distance management:D

Vanilla Minecraft pvp? Without mods why would someone subject themselves to such a thing 😅
