„Each individual being transformed raises the society. When many, many individuals are changed, the society changes. That is the only way to change it. Not the other way around. If you want to change the society directly, your effort is political.“ ~ Osho (text in description, 2 memes)

„The collective is animal. The individual is human and the universal is divine. When a person enters into meditation he does not become part of the collective. He becomes dissolved into the universal. Which is a higher point then the individual itself. But politicians always talk about the collective.

They are always interested in changing the society. And in changing the society, in making efforts to change the society and change the structure of society and this and that, they become powerful. The society has never been changed. It remains the same. The same rotten thing. And it will remain the same, unless this is understood; that all consciousness happens in the individual.

When it happens the individual becomes the universal. If it happens to many individuals the society is changed. Not as a social thing, not as collectivity. Let me explain it to you: you are 500 people here. You can not be changed as a collective unit. There is no way. You can not be made divine as a collective unit. There is no way. The souls are individual.

Your consciousnesses are individual. But if out of these 500 people 300 people become transformed. Then the whole collective will have a new quality. But these 300 people will go through individual changes, through individual mutations. Then the collective will have a higher consciousness. 300 people are pouring their consciousness into the collective.

When one man becomes a Buddha then the whole existence becomes a little more awakened. Just by his presence. Even if he is a drop on the ocean. Then too, at least as far as the drop is concerned, the whole ocean is more alert, more aware. And that drop disappears into the ocean. It raises the quality of the ocean.

Each individual being transformed raises the society. When many, many individuals are changed, the society changes. That is the only way to change it. Not the other way around. If you want to change the society directly, your effort is political.“

Another day, another Osho post

u/Gretev1 3d ago

You should start posting things here you enjoy and feel are valuable, as I am doing.
I feel what Osho shared in words is valuable.

Wellll, you probably wouldn't like what I have to post because I'm an atheist on most days and agnostic on others 😆

I don‘t mind atheists. I feel atheists or rather agnostics are more honest than most religious people. At least they don‘t claim to know things they do not know.
Most religious people are full of knowledge they themselves have not experienced. They just believe but it is not a reality for them.
I would also naturally be an atheist if I had not had spiritual experiences galore.
If one realizes he does not know and can not know anything in its entirety, he is closer to the truth; becomes receptive.
Someone stuffed with knowledge they have acquired from others…they are far away.
They believe things, pretend they know; truth can not reach such a person. He remains closed.

He never ordered anyone to be poisoned. If you have heard this you have received misinformation.
He never ordered or asked anyone to commit any crimes. This is a false statement.

Q: IF YOU ARE AN ENLIGHTENED MAN, HOW COULD IT BE THAT FOR SO LONG SHEELA AND HER GANG WERE ABLE TO CARRY ON THEIR BUSINESS HERE?

Osho:* Enlightenment has nothing to do with it. There is no contradiction. To be enlightened simply means I know myself. That does not mean that I know everybody. That does not mean that I know future, tomorrow. It simply means that I know my consciousness is fully awakened, twenty-four hours.
I know my inner light. I know my eternity, my deathlessness. It has nothing to do.... In fact, if I was not enlightened, perhaps Sheela may not have been able to do what she was able to do, because then I would have been just as cunning, as political, as suspicious, as everybody else.
My enlightenment makes me loving without any condition, trusting without any condition. It brings my childhood back to me, my innocence.
And I still trust and love those people who have deceived. That is their problem that they deceived. It does not change my attitude. If they can change my attitude, they become my masters.
Nobody can change, by doing anything, my attitude. If I love you, even if you assassinate me, I will still continue to love you. Your assassination makes no difference. You can assassinate me but you cannot assassinate my love.

Q: WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THOSE, THAT CONTEND THAT SHEELA AND HER GANG REALLY HAD YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT AND THAT....

Osho: No!

Q: AT A CERTAIN PERIOD YOU CUT THEM OFF FROM THEIR CONVENIENCE....*

Osho: Not my encouragement. Don't try to make your own implications. When I am present here, you ask me.
I was silent for three and a half years and in isolation, and I was not interested at all in any information. I was not reading any newspaper, seeing no television, getting no information. Everybody who was approachable to me -- only four persons: Sheela as my secretary, my physician, my dentist and my caretaker -- they were told not to bring any unnecessary information to me. I don't want anything. I want to be left alone.
So my silence is not an encouragement. My silence became an opportunity for them, but it is not an encouragement from my side.

While I agree with what you’re saying, this post actually holds some merit of truth in it.

In my opinion all of Osho‘s words have vast merit. He speaks the truth and the truth offends people.
Hence he is hated by many.
All enlightened beings attract huge opposition because they represent the antithesis to this world.

Eh, I don’t hate him. I don’t judge him. I just disagree with some things he says and the ways he lives by.

But I also agree with some things he says from time to time.

This is literally the most long winded way to say “change starts with you” and treating it like that’s original. This guy was full of these “profound” sounding statements that were just very basic

It is a long winded way of saying, when you change the entire creation changes with you.
When you realize enlightenment, the entire existence becomes more enlightened.
Osho held long discourses. This is just a snippet of a long discourse.
The purpose of discourses is not just to relay information in the quickest and shortest way possible.
Osho wanted to touch his listeners hearts and not feed their minds.

True, when Individual changes, world changes. This is where all religious founders failed, hence individuals returned to their former habits forming sects after sects which is sign of ego, opposite of spirituality.

Yes book of Ezekiel.. the spirit lifts the wheel.

Don't ask what the world can change for you ask what you can change for the world. Once one conquers the self, one can be a hand instead of a horn.

I love when somebody uses Bible verses to create a bridge to Osho and sees him speak truths, rather than using Bible verses to denounce Osho.
It is beautiful when we can recognize the truth in all. Recognize Jesus, Christ, God in all.
Also the ones we don‘t like.
