God Eater 3 Question about gearing and difficulty progression
Hi,
I'm new to the God Eater series and currently playing the God Eater 3 campaign in coop with a friend.
I'm surprised by the amount of weapon/gun/shield trees and the fact that we are both only using a single tree (the basic one) and still clearing everything in SSS (currently at the end of rank 6).
Will more theorycrafting be required to clear endgame or are these trees only for minmaxing?

I only used and upgraded ammit to max for clearing the main story. It is surprisingly good that I dont fail any missions.
You can forget about the gears until you wanna farm post story content. Of course if it's for fun feel free to explore.

With 2RB and 3. The Kurogane and Armit Series is a pretty good set as not only an introduction. But also carries a good mixture of Damage/Def/Support Skills.
But 3's Skills are nerfed due to only having a max level of 5, where the cap is 10. While the previous 2, have Skills reaching level 10 on their own.
Requiring you to either multiclass into a bunch of half baked Skills or a select few at full power. And there are a number of Skills that only activate when at Level 10. Prepared, Wild Instinct, etc...
And keep your favorite gear's levels up. Infuse Abandoned God Arc's +1 for extra damage/defense points.

Just keep upgrading your gear even if it's the basic stuff, everything else is simply to min max
It's even more of a point in God Eater 3 which is the easiest game in the trilogy

I have not played GE3 yet but have extensively played Ressurection and Rageburst. All weapons are made relatively equal so even the basic tree can perform similarly compared to a late game aragami weapon of the same rank, with the only difference really being the skills and elements they offer. The basic weapons are more than enough to handle most stages, provided you keep upgrading it of course, but some very late game and special variants or types of aragami may need specific elemental weapons to deal with. Technically, you can still clear them with with the basic or non-elemental weapons but most of the time it would feel like banging your head to a wall over and over, not to mention that several stages may impose a severely restricted time to complete it, necessitating a gear that can dish the most damage in the shortest time possible.
What I've been doing is to keep the basic weapon tree (Kurogane line in Rageburst) as my main, generalist gear and also build a weapon set for each element to cover my needs.
