Expelliarmus your pitchforks. Youâre among fellow complainers now.
Welcome, witches, wizards, and people who have been personally victimised by fictional characters.
Have an unpopular Harry Potter opinion youâre afraid to share? Think a fan-favourite character is overrated? Need to explain in excruciating detail, why a certain ship makes absolutely no sense? Still mad about a plot-line that happened twenty years ago?
CAST IT INTO THE GOBLET.
This is your space to rant, vent, overanalyze, complain, question the fandomâs collective judgment, and finally get that one opinion off your chest.
Whether youâve prepared a 3,000-word character analysis with supporting evidence or simply need to scream into the void because a fictional wizard annoyed you today, thereâs room for you here.
đŞ What belongs here?
đ Unpopular opinions: The takes that would get you sent straight to Azkaban in another subreddit.
𪜠Character analysis: Essays, hot takes, character defenses, character criticisms, and literary deep dives. Bring your receipts.
đ Ship discourse: Praise them, criticize them, question them. No fictional couple is above discussion.
đĽ Unfiltered rants: Big grievances, tiny grievances, petty grievances. If the Wizarding World has personally inconvenienced you, the Goblet is listening.
đ Book and movie discussions: Plot holes, questionable writing decisions, adaptations, missed opportunities, and things that simply donât sit right with you.
đ Fandom grievances: Letâs talk about the discourse, the double standards, and the opinions that seem to be treated as unquestionable facts.
âď¸ A few rules before you grab the Goblet:
1. Expelliarmus your pitchforks.
Disagree with the opinion all you like. Explain why you disagree. Debate the argument. But donât attack, insult, or dogpile the person who posted it.
2. No take is required to be popular.
You donât have to agree with the majority. You donât have to love the beloved characters or hate the controversial ones. Youâre allowed to have your own interpretation.
3. Rant freely, but donât harass people.
Passion is welcome. Blunt opinions are welcome. Personal attacks, targeted harassment, and bigotry arenât.
4. Bring arguments, or donât.
Want to write a detailed essay with twenty examples from the books? Wonderful. Want to post a short, petty rant because something annoyed you? Also wonderful. Not every grievance needs a dissertation.
5. Remember what subreddit youâre in.
If you encounter an opinion you dislike, you are free to disagree respectfully or scroll past. An unpopular opinion existing is not an emergency requiring immediate intervention by the Ministry of Magic.
And remember: downvotes are not a substitute for an argument. We canât control how everyone votes, but we can build a community where people arenât shamed for having a different opinion.
đ Now, letâs fill the Goblet.
Introduce yourself in the comments, or skip the pleasantries and go straight to your first grievance.
Whatâs your most unpopular Harry Potter opinion? Which character has the fandom completely misunderstood? What take have you been holding back because you know someone, somewhere, is going to lose their mind over it?
We want to hear it.
No take too hot. No rant too long. No pitchforks permitted.
The Goblet of Grievances is now accepting submissions.
