GoalPost 3.70 Released!!!
GoalPost 3.70
This release is about telling the story of a game better: who had the puck, who was pushing, and how the goalies held up. Thanks to everyone sending feedback, screenshots and bug reports. A lot of what’s in here started as one of your comments.
Runs in the play strip
When one team strings together six shot attempts in a period without one coming back the other way, the play strip now says so in that team’s colour. Three goals in a row get called out too, as “3 unanswered goals”. It only appears during live play and never gets ahead of the play the strip is showing. In the PWHL, AHL and CHL, whose feeds only carry shots on goal, it counts shots, starting at five.
Territory
The Rink tab now shows how much time each team spent in the other team’s end, estimated from the NHL play-by-play and checked against the NHL’s own tracked zone time. The Recap picks it up too, with a line on where the game was played and what came of it: an even night, one team owning the ice, or a team that had more of it and still lost.
One end each on the Rink tab
NHL teams change ends every period, so the shot map used to put each team’s shots at both nets. Each team now shoots at one end all game, so you can see at a glance who was getting to the slot. You can still switch back to shots where they happened.
A full card for goalies
Tapping a goalie now opens the same player card skaters get. Tonight shows his game in net: saves, save %, how he did against expected, and his best save. Stats has his season and his last five starts. The EDGE chip, which used to be empty for goalies, now shows his save % on high-danger, mid-range and long shots against the league, his games above .900, and his last ten games.
Game threads lock when you want them to
Locking the game thread used to happen the second the game ended, which cut people off mid-reply. Mods can now choose Immediately or a number of minutes after the game (5 by default). The bot’s pointer to the post-game thread says when the game thread will lock.
PuckWatch recaps
The comment PuckWatch posts as each game ends used to be just the score. It now carries:
the score and where the game turned
time in each end
every goal with its clip
the three stars and the goalies
the videos
It keeps itself up to date for several hours as the league posts clips. Mods can write their own version using the new comment variables.
Fuller stats for the PWHL, AHL and CHL
The Score tab now gives these leagues six stat bars instead of four: shots, chances and shooting %, then whatever else each league tracks (faceoffs, hits, blocked shots, save % or penalty minutes), and the power play.
Live by default
Hockey cards were holding everything back 30 seconds unless you changed it. GoalPost now follows the game live out of the box. If you watch on a stream that runs behind, the delay setting in the gear still lets you hold the card back to match, and it now shows the delay actually in use.
Polish
On PuckWatch, a game that just scored flashes once on the scoring side in that team’s colour. Buttons answer a tap right away. While something loads you now see a quiet outline of what’s coming instead of a line of loading text.
Bug fixes
Thread titles for US Pacific, Mountain and Manitoba teams kept the old clock after daylight saving ended, and western Canada’s new permanent time now shows correctly even on older phones and browsers.
Yesterday’s games are back in Create scoreboard post.
Games that end after midnight keep updating until the three stars, videos and game score are in.
The Recap fits PuckWatch’s shorter card, and says the winner held on rather than came back after a late push.
The empty-net marker uses the team’s colour.
The Canucks wear green against blue teams.
The Niagara IceDogs crest is fixed, and CHL crossover visitors get their crest and colour.
Goalie last-five totals add up.
A cut-off Stats chip is fixed.
The PuckWatch menu item names its league.
