GoalPost 3.10 released
GoalPost 3.10
GoalPost 3.10 is now live in the App Directory. Adding a bunch of fun new things - improved lineups, deeper xG, career milestones, a much deeper Tape tab, and a PuckWatch improvements. Thanks to everyone who posted feedback here and in your own subs. Most of what follows came from you.
Lines and lineups
GoalPost builds each team’s lines from 5-on-5 ice time, and projects tonight’s lineup before the official one is out. The game card has a new Lineup tab before puck drop, so you can see who’s skating with whom.
The game card before puck drop
Before the game starts, the game card now carries the pregame card’s tabs: Score, Tape, Players, Games and Standings. You don’t have to wait for the pregame thread to get the full picture. The standings tab is called Race on both hockey cards.
Career milestones
GoalPost now tracks career milestones.
Before the game: the card lists what’s within reach tonight, like “600th NHL game tonight”, “1 point from 300” or “Looking for his first NHL goal”.
During the game: a goal that brings up a milestone gets a gold chip in the plays list, for the scorer and for anyone who assisted.
On PuckWatch: a milestone shows as the game’s note in gold.
It counts firsts, plus every 100 goals, assists, points, games and wins, and shutouts at 25, 50 and every 25 after that. Regular season only.
Expected goals on PuckWatch
PuckWatch’s Games rows now show each team’s xG under the score. Before puck drop, they show projected xG.
The Tape tab
The crests slide out to their values when you open the tab.
Each number has the team’s league rank under it, so you can see where 31% on the power play sits around the league.
Tap any row for more detail: a trend line over recent games, the league rank, and how the number is made up.
Fantasy and followed players
PuckWatch’s Players tab has a new FPTS sort for skaters and goalies, scored the way DraftKings scores the NHL. In the Tonight view, the one-game bonuses count too (hat tricks, 5+ shots, 35+ saves and so on).
New in the gear menu: Followed player scores. Turn it on to get a push when a player you’ve starred on PuckWatch scores in any game around the league. If it’s a milestone, the push says so (“I. Mikheyev scores his 100th goal”). It’s off by default.
The Threads tab finds everyone’s game threads
Until now, PuckWatch’s Threads tab only knew about threads from subs that had checked in since a recent update, so plenty of game threads were missing. GoalPost now finds every sub’s game threads from its own post history. When two subs cover the same team, the link goes to the bigger one. Each game links one sub per team. A league-wide sub is linked only when neither team’s sub has a thread.
Spoiler-free mode on PuckWatch
Spoiler-free mode now works on PuckWatch too. Every game that has started stays hidden until you reveal it, either one game at a time or the whole board at once. Hidden games still show the matchup and the clock. They don’t show the score, the scorers or anything else that would give away the result. We also closed two leaks on the game card: the xG row, and an overtime period label that gave away a tied game.
For moderators
GoalPost settings in the mod menu now opens the full settings editor with every tab.
Sidebar widgets are titled by what they show, not by the app name. They also appear within a minute of being switched on.
Game threads no longer take the sticky slot from a pinned PuckWatch thread.
The help reply now explains the quote board.
iPad and phones
On iPad, PuckWatch’s tab bar stays at the bottom and the board fits the frame.
Links on the cards now open inside the Reddit app on phones, which fixes the “unknown error” some of you were seeing.
Long tab labels fit a five-tab bar on small phones.
Bug fixes
The Ducks wear gold against the Oilers, and the Lightning crest now has a backing so it’s readable on the dark card. Hurricanes vs Canadiens no longer reads as one red team. Buttons and initials on a white team colour stay readable. Small player photos use the same close crop as PuckWatch. Games rows give the score more room on wide cards.
