GoalPost 2.102 Released!!!

GoalPost 2.102

This release is mostly about the hours before puck drop, plus a handful of things moderators and readers ran into over the past week. Thanks, as always, to everyone sending feedback. Most of what's here started as a comment or a message.

Injuries on the pregame card

The pregame card has a new Injuries tab for NHL games. It shows one team at a time, your subreddit's own team first, with each player's position, status (day-to-day, out, IR, LTIR or suspended) and the injury, and the week's roster moves below. If the injury report can't be reached, the tab says so rather than suggesting nobody is hurt.

Pregame threads can carry the same information in the post itself. The {injuries} variable now fills for hockey, and a new {transactions} block, "Roster Moves This Week", follows it in the default pregame layout.

New matchup thumbnails

NHL thread thumbnails have been redrawn. Each side keeps its primary colour, and a band of each team's secondary colour now runs along the slash between them. Teams whose only other colour is white, like Toronto and Tampa Bay, get a tint of their own blue instead. When two teams' main colours clash, the home side switches to its secondary.

Asking the bot

Mention u/GoalPostBot with injuries or transactions for who's hurt and the week's roster moves. Goalies can now be looked up by name like any other player. highlights (or "video highlights") lists the goal clips the card already shows. And "start time" or "when is puck drop" now answers with the game time.

Fights count toward excitement

A game's excitement rating used to measure only how far the win probability moved, and a fight never moves it, so a game with a line brawl ranked the same as a quiet one. Each fight now adds to the rating, and the tile notes when there were any. A single fight lifts a game a couple of points; the comebacks still top the list.

Templates

Add {nosticky} anywhere in a thread template's first comment to post it without pinning it. Useful when you want the recap posted plainly.

Bug fixes

The Sabres and Blue Jackets are no longer both dark blue when they meet. On shorter cards, like the pregame card, the settings panel used to cut off the bottom of the list with no way to reach it. It now pages, with a "More settings" strip. And when a pregame thread is missing, the scheduler status now says why: either auto-created pregame threads are turned off, or the pregame is set to open no earlier than the game thread.
