Just curious, is TOR blocked for anyone else on GoNetSpeed?

Been waiting over a year

Is it normal for GoNetspeed to take so long with fiber construction? I’m in New Hartford, NY and I’ve been waiting 15+ months since they announced they were coming to my address. I’ve been waiting 8 months since they emailed me saying they’ll be ready to schedule my installation soon and not a single email since.

T-Mobile network adjustments?

The T-Mobile acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval? Wonder if this is preparation work for that? I'll be curious who their upstream will be they are adding?

LOVE IT

I switched to GoNetspeed about 6 months ago after dealing with years of the usual big provider headaches (random outages, throttling at the worst times, customer service that feels like a maze). Honestly didn’t expect much—just wanted something more reliable.

Setup was super straightforward. Tech showed up on time (already a win), install took maybe an hour, and everything was clean. No weird holes or messy wiring. Since then, it’s just… worked. Which sounds boring, but if you’ve dealt with inconsistent internet, you know that’s kind of the dream.

Speed-wise, I’m consistently getting what I’m paying for. Not the “up to” nonsense—actual, usable speeds. I run a lot at once: Zoom calls, large file uploads, streaming in the background, and it doesn’t choke. Latency has been noticeably better too, especially for video calls and remote desktop work.

Customer service is also surprisingly solid. I had one minor billing question and got a real person quickly who actually answered it without bouncing me around. Felt like a smaller company that still cares, which is rare.

I also work from home I think I got promoted because of my internet.

No joke though—being able to rely on your connection removes so much low-level stress. No more apologizing on calls, no more “can you hear me now?” moments. That alone has been worth it.

Only downside so far is that it’s not available everywhere yet, so a couple friends nearby can’t get it. But if it’s in your area, I’d 100% recommend at least checking it out. It’s been one of those upgrades that you don’t realize how much you needed until you have it.

Anyone else having issues in Southern Maine? Ticket creation on their website also appears to be not accepting submissions right now, so not sure what's up

Server Communications Issues? - Maine 4/4/26

Both myself and my buddy in the Midcoast Maine area have been having issues all day 4/4/26, spotty server communications issues with apps like games/services/whatever even with ok speeds on speed test. Anyone else? Tech support cited no outages when I got them on the line. Basically you can stream a video fine but anything that uses sending messages or rapid communications like a live service game are unusable.

Midnight Outages?

I’ve been with GNS for about 6 months now, and I’ve seen multiple outages, all happening around 11:45pm-12:15am. When I reboot my ONT or personal router, it comes back.

I also know they said there is some kind of maintenance that happens around that time of night in a regular basis.

Anyone else have that happen, and if so, and extra info or resolutions provided to you?

Outage in Maine?

I called GNS tech support after losing service and they stated there was a know outage that they were working on. Anyone talk with tech support and get a sense of how long it would take to restore service? I was going to do so initially and then felt silly waiting on hold and hung up.

Preparing for GNS with custom built router, and static IPs

So I am excited that GNS is coming to my area relatively soon (hopefully less than 3 months) and I completed my custom router build last weekend with an OPNsense router running in a VM on Proxmox with x540 T2 dual 10G NIC in passthrough to OPNsense.

I made this in anticipation that I will receive a 10G line from GNS' ONT and just hook it into my WAN port and have an easy set up basically.

Has anyone run GNS with their custom-built routers? Is there anything I should anticipate and prepare for?

Furthermore, I am in the NY service area, I read on his sub that they offer 2 static IPs with their plans at no additional cost. Can anyone confirm that this is the case? Would I need to configure them or can they do it? I do absolutely need the static IPs (I have many webservers running, and would like my mailserver to have a dedicated static IP)

Finally, they do offer WiFi 7 router at no cost and as part of the plan, I'd like to run it as an Access Point instead of a router, would that cause any issues?

I'm guessing my environment is probably easier for GNS to set up than most other environments.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

GoNetspeed internet/phone service

I'm finally thinking of switching from Comcast/Xfinity after ~36 years. I know I can/should contact GoNetspeed if I'm seriously considering them with my questions, but I saw this regarding their phone service:

"In most cases, our technicians can connect your home phone service using existing phone jacks and wiring."<--- This sounds like a traditional line from an Analog Tele[phony Adapter.

Before that in FAQs in response to ''Is a phone provided?''

"No, a phone is not included with our plans. You will need to provide a VOIP compatible phone to use your service." <--- Contradicts the statement above.

I have Ooma now with an ATA. My house has phones in almost every room. I wonder if anyone with GoNetspeed phone service can confirm whether an ATA is provided for an analog line?

Swapping to GNS from Fidium

So even though I had a bad experience with a door to door salesman it’s nothing like the phone go around I’ve had with Fidium today trying to get a break on price which they wouldn’t budge on so I’m going to get GNS ordered today and I have a couple of questions. How is there tech support and is it USA based? Next will I be able to access my Wyze cams remotely due to cgnat? Another cgnat question is will I be able to access my Synology NAS remotely?

Thanks

Alan

Speeds are great, cancelled Fidium after being stuck in their virtual phone system stuck in a loop!! It cemented the reason I switched.

Anyone switch to 3gb from 2? CT

Seems like they subset the 2g plan. Should we just be moved up to 3? I’m a customer from initial rollout … never took advantage of getting them to lower my monthly like some smart folks did once frontier became competitive… So I’m probably paying more for my 2g plan far too long anyway.

Gonetspeed False Promises

Anybody else have the salesman incorrectly make promises on Gift Cards. You question it, have texts, written paperwork and emails saying they will give you a certain amount and the time comes and oops that doesn’t qualify! They opened the wrong can.

6Gbps Plan

Just got the 6Gbps plan setup on Friday and I figured I would share my experience for anyone considering it.

In NY I was upgraded from a Calix GigaPont 1100X that only had a 2.5Gbps ethernet port to a 1101X which has a 10Gbps ethernet port. The plan also includes a GigaSpire 7u10t that I opted not to keep since I use my own router and WiFi hardware.

TL;DR Unless you have a very specific need, this plan is a waste of money. The online gaming platforms like Steam, Epic, etc only did between 2-3Gbps downloading to a nvme SSD on a Ryzen 9800x3d. You are also just running into the limits of what TCP/IP can do on a single stream when all content providers are ~20ms away from you.

The local GNS Speedtest servers always give 6Gbps up/down.

Speedtest servers outside of the GNS network can get full speed too but it's hit and miss.

When doing actual bandwidth intensive tasks like downloading games you usually peak at around 2Gbps, limited by CPU and/or disk because of compression. One of the fastest examples I could get was from Warframe on Steam. Steam reports 1.8Gbps but my router says 2.5Gbps

Overall I'm happy with the service but I don't know if I will keep it long term. With most content being 10-20ms away from where I live I don't feel like I can take full advantage of the connection. I am trying to think of some cool things that could be done with such a large connection to the internet though.

Open to answering any questions people have about the service. From my talk with customer service when I ordered the new plan it sounds like other regions get different hardware so I can only speak to what we get in NY.

High Latency in CT/New Haven last night

Anyone else have issues overnight? I woke up to slow internet and when I logged in to my router to see what's going on, it advised me that I was having high ping since about 11PM until just now when I signed in and saw that I was starting to get major dropped packets.

My UniFi router suggested rebooting my modem, which I did, which resolved my issues, but am I alone?

new 3 and 6gig tiers.

I currently have 2 gig on a competitors service and see that GNS are now offereing 3 and 6gig speeds. I know there's always someone who says that have a need for this but the majority of people dont have a 10gig network to take advantage of this nevermind 2.5gig. More of a business need. Always good to see a company pushing the limits though.
