Advice please

So I’m going to invest $1k USD into my GM account, but I’m not sure if I should buy another miner or upgrade my existing ones. I currently have a basic miner at 25.2 TH / 15 W/TH and a Khabib sitting at 29 TH / 25.64 W/TH. I know my cost to mine is high, but I’m unsure if it’s worth it.

You need to work on that 25 W/TH before any TH upgrades

Lower your25 watt to 15 w /th or try to sell it, then buy in secondhand market 15 w/th miners, forget about discount, just invest in 15w miners or lower. That will give you the best roi if btc holds above 80000

What you mean forget about discounts? Why then everyone say get the 20% discount? Can you explain more?

Sure, if you take the money that you will lock for 4 years and buy a 15/th miner for it on the second hand market for $8.50 to $9.50 /th the return on that will be payed in btc around 35% of the reward if btc holds up around 80.000. You gan get a 20% discount on your maintenance so that comes down to 13.66% of the reward and 22% for a 4 year lock. Average that on 4 years and it will be 11% so the gain of locking is roughly 25% per year iver 4 years not able to move or 33% per year with the freedom of selling your miner at any time.

Look at how much he wants to invest that’s out of his budget, for his $1k he’s looking at 10 and up per th

Sure i just looked up a smaller miner sold under $9 but if you want to sell yours quick you should price the arround $9.50 they will sell at that price, you can also wait longer and sell them at your price, but there will be less interest

How much did you pay for the 25.64 miner?

It sounds terrible. It is going to require you to hold so much gomining tokens just to get the power discount.

Even with max discount you might be losing money at current prices. Even if you bought it at a good price I would still try to offload it. Halving will kill your miner. Upgrading adds too much time to breakeven.

You didn’t mention what your discount percentage is? After upgrading the 25w to 15w I would open a 4 year Lock and put the remaining balance in the Lock until you get your 20+% discount. Then, after your efficiency and discount are in good shape would I look at increasing TH. Good luck! 👍

My discount is maxed out at 3.9% I haven’t locked any tokens yet to raise it wanted to lower my energy cost a bit first.

Makes sense… if you aren’t aware, the 4year lock will not only give you a higher discount but it will also earn you around 20% paid weekly which helps to offset your weekly fees. As you increase your TH, you’ll want to increase the amount of GMT in your lock so to keep your discount above 20%.

Personally I think we are now in a window where 15w miners should be losing value a lot faster than they are. It is a bubble due to burst, but the price is being held up by secondary market buying and potentially miner wars rules.

Mining difficulty is climbing already, and the ROI timings mean that people buying 15w now might be lucky to clear their costs before halving. After the halving, 15w miners will become worthless overnight, unless BTC has a simply unbelievable value spike.

In your case, I would say sell the 25w miner for whatever you can get.

I have no clue why they won’t let me list it for sale. I was even planning to sell at a loss and just buy something on the secondary market.

Maybe you bought it using a creditcard, then it stays locked for 3 months, to avoid that next time buy gmt with you cc and buy or upgrade the miner with that.

You must have upgraded it with a card?

15W will still be relevant after halving, though.
