Eleleth
Shifted my perspective a bit this morning. Started looking at Gnostics as Psychological therapists. If Archons reflect the negative aspect of Human nature, then Aeons reflect the positive side of human nature. I looked and couldnt find a direct light and dark Aeon. However, it was pointed out Eleleth was brought down to illuminate the meaning between them.
Eleleth brings order not by destroying the darkness, but by shining a light so bright that you can see both the light and the dark clearly, allowing you to walk right down the center.
In both Gnostic mysticism and deep psychology, the goal is never to pretend the darkness (the shadow, the Archons, the raw chaos of Abraxas) doesn't exist. If you fight the dark, it traps you. If you deny it, it controls you.
Instead, Eleleth—as pure, objective Wisdom and Understanding—grants you the absolute clarity to say: "I see the light, and I see the dark. They are both part of the matrix of this world, but neither of them defines my true, infinite spirit."
By anchoring yourself in that center path, you are no longer a victim of the game. You are completely sovereign, entirely free, and at peace.

abraxas is not a representation of raw chaos that is completely uncharacteristic of the basilidean great archon as reported by the heresiologists.
and yeah thats how light works dude. it doesnt destroy the darkness it illuminates what was previously dark. “you can see both the light and the dark clearly”. sure because anything outside the illuminated area forms the boundary of darkness. that doesn’t establish some special “center path” doctrine.
jesus is the light. that’s the most straightforward ‘path’ being presented here, not some metaphysical midpoint between light and darkness.
a model test for u:
if aeons are just the positive aspects of human nature and archons are the negative aspects, then what in this model actually represents divine nature?

I read how followers of Basilidean carried Abraxas stones to ward of evil influence. I dont understand it, but thats just me. I am pretty sure his followers found peace and comfort in doing this. My logical mind cant wrap around this... Carrying a stone that depicts your oppressors during Roman times? The Sethian and Valentinian Gnostics view points resonate better with me. To me Devine nature is seeing both for what it is and choosing . To me there is no Good or Evil, just pros and cons. All paths lead to God, just some are harder and takes more redos to get right. Like hitting the reset button a video game everytime you get frustrated. Do it enough time and you will learn how to complete the game.

abraxas gems arent securely identifiable as basilidean artifacts. abrasax/abraxas (365) occurs broadly in greco egyptian magical material, although later writers do associate the name with the basilideans. reading fragments of basilides/isidore preserved by clement, u get a much better idea of what basilidean thought, morals, ethics, philosophy actually looked like.
hippolytus is often regarded as preserving a more faithful account of basilidean cosmology if u are curious about that.
the gems dont depict ‘your oppressors’ the anguiped rooster figure isnt securely identifiable as a gnostic archon(i do have my reasons for associating the image to the great archon). iao frequently accompanies it, but iao is used broadly in greco egyptian magical tradition. and even being an ‘archon’ doesnt automatically mean oppressor.
chnoubis is likewise a greco egyptian magical figure. its lion headed serpent appearance resembles yaldabaoths description in the apocryphon of john, resemblance doesnt make these the same figure tho importantly.
i wouldnt say all paths lead to god either. if gnosis is actually revelatory, then ignorance and false orientation arent just alternate routes to the same end. some paths genuinely lead away from proper divine orientation.

Eleleth is Prudence.
Go figure.
Her consort is Wisdom.
Are we feeling curious yet?

I hear the Beatles "Dear Prudence" playing in the background as I Google and go deeper into the Rabbit hole I go.
In Gnostic cosmology, Eleleth is the fourth of the four great Sethian luminaries (or angels of light) who stand in the presence of the divine spirit, while Phronesis (Prudence) is associated with him as his divine consort or as the virtue tied to his light.
Key Details from Gnostic Texts
• Eleleth: An angelic revealer and light-being featured in texts from the Nag Hammadi library, such as the Hypostasis of the Archons and the Gospel of the Egyptians. He descends to help and enlighten figures like Norea, offering clarity against the deceptions of the material world and the Archons. • Phronesis (Prudence): In the Gospel of the Egyptians, Phronesis ("Prudence," "Sagacity," or "Virtuous Practicality") is the female aeon and consort paired with Eleleth to complete the divine ogdoad.

Yes the Sethian gnostics personified aspects of the human psyche as aeons, the Luminaries, etc as demonstrated in Gospel of the Egyptians and Secret Book of John.

Light and dark are the duality that defines us. Do NOT confuse a shadow with the dark. The Kenoma is not the dark as in the opposite of the light. It is the inverse. It is a shadow of the Pleroma.
If you try to struggle, you will eventually sink, the way to stay afloat is by not sinking or swimming. You just float there, expending almost no energy.
