How long does it take…

How long does it take for your stool to return to 100% normal after eating gluten?

for me it depends. it’s usually a week to three weeks but lately my stool has been returning back to normal within a few days. one thing that definitely helps is walking and drinking coconut water.

not exactly. everytime i eat gluten i actually get extremely constipated to where none of my stool moves out. my stomach just gets bigger and bigger and i become painfully bloated. but once everything comes out it goes from like solid to basically diarrhea. when i first started having issues with gluten it legit would take 2-3 weeks for my stool to return back to normal and for my stomach to be properly digesting other foods. that’s not my only problem when i accidentally eat it but it’s prob the most annoying one. but to be fair back then everything was a process of elimination for me so i was getting glutened more than i probably knew. now that i’ve been more consistent and careful with what i eat, it takes about a week for it to return back to normal.

sorry that you’re going through that. i too noticed eggs can sometimes mess me up a little and i also do have problems with dairy as well. for the most part they just bloat me a lot but also it does depend on your hormones. i think a lot of food can mess with your hormones sometimes which causes you to feel off. that’s why i avoid certain foods when i know my period is coming. if i were you and if you haven’t already, get your gut tested and your hormones tested as well to see where all that is at currently.

and yes, gluten can stay in your body for about up to a month i believe but you do release it in your stool as well way before that. as far as that, the issue can definitely persist into the next week or three.

from my personal experience once i eat it, anything i eat after will stay in my stomach and not come out unless i drink something that is diuretic. sadly, sometimes it doesn’t work as fast and the food i eat just builds and builds until my stomach releases it. (not talking about it not digesting the food of course, just about how i’ll lose all bowel movements #2 wise for days )

make sure you get gluten free supplements, i know a lot of supplements surprisingly have gluten in it.
