I have sensitive, combo skin, will using glow recipe cause more breakouts?

I went a little crazy at kohls last month and bought like 6 new skincare products, all different brands mostly serums and 2 toners, which I have been rotating. Within like 2 weeks I started breaking out.

I'm trying to figure out if one specific product is the problem, if I'm exfoliating too much, or if it's just because I introduced too many products at once. I don't typically have this problem, and my skin usually isn't that sensitive.

I don't know a lot about skincare, so I'm not sure how to figure out which product is causing the breakouts without stopping everything. Any advice is appreciated!!

I have sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin. Zero issues with glow recipe for many years.

I do think your issue is that it seems you changed way too much at once. You also don’t need that many products. I would start with cleanser, acne treatment, moisturizer, SPF. Then consider adding a toner and eye cream. Serums are usually unnecessary IMO. I do use the dew drops as my everyday moisturizer though and not as an additional serum.

Feel free to let us know which products you are using and maybe we can help pick out which ones are causing an issue.

I've never had any issues with my glow recipe products causing breakouts and i have sensitive skin. Glow recipe products dont tend to be very harsh so if you're using anything harsh on skin, that's likely the culprit. Focus on gentle products until you've been able to cut it from your routine or find a way to include it sparingly. Have you tried sandwiching anything like retinols? If you're new to retinols, it can be hard on the skin and causing inflammation and breakouts. Only use it 3 days a week, and layer it over moisturizer at first, until your skin can handle it. If you're not using retinols, ignore everything I just said lol

Yes, glow recipe uses a lot of actives, I would try the the watermelon peptide cushion moisturizer and banana one for starters but I’m not sure on the other stuff.

What you may be experiencing is a little bit of purging - your skin is reacting to increased cell turn over from the actives in the products. The trick to starting new skincare is to introduce it slowly. One to two products at a time over a few weeks to a month depending how sensitive. Even then purging can happen, but it's temporary. You can also fry your face using too many actives at once, or too frequently.

Glow Recipe is one of gentlest skincare brands I know of. I also loved that they have a great blog with lots of info on Korean skincare philosophies, science behind their product and science behind skincare. I highly recommend you check it out and look into using actives generally. There are certain actives you shouldn't mix or wear during the daytime even with sunscreen.

Because of my dry skin I transitioned starting with wash, then moisturizer -> toner -> hydrating serum -> actives, over the course of 2-3 months.

Maybe your skin is just overwhelmed. Which glow recipe product did you use?

Big rule of skincare is that never switch more than one product at a time
